Great release at an even better price
This story has been presented beautifully in this Absolute Edition with nice, thick paper and punchy colours. Nothing wrong with this release, in my opinion. The slipcover is great, and all the extra material such as the full script is perfect for any fan of this story. As for the comic itself, it may be too edgy for some fans but I've always loved the psychology aspect of the Batman mythos and Arkham Asylum probably explores that better than any other comic I've read. Less inspired by '40s noir detective stories and owing more to European cinema, it's definitely a left turn for this character but it still feels like a natural step towards diving deeper into Batman's highly disturbed mind, and his even more disturbed villains. The artwork is just stunning, but certainly not for everyone. To me, it's really capturing the mood and atmosphere of what's going on rather than a literal representation of it. It's a strange kind of beautiful. All in all, not just a great release of this comic but probably the best, and at a very reasonable price.

Amazing art style that suits the story. Personally, for me, one of the best storys of Batman everThe book is hardcover, has a few extras and I enjoyed reading it

Stunning
Incredible representation of a classic Batman story. Beautiful painted art by Dave McKean that does the story of Batman's daily nightmare by Grant Morrison absolute justice.

Brilliant
Excellent. I have an earlier edition and it is so much better. The colours are less saturated, the pencil work is a lot cleaner, the remastering is superb throughout, the text is a lot more readable and less garish in the new version. Somethings are not particularly better in that some of the contrast on some of the pages seems to be lost and what could be made out clearly in the earlier, is harder to see (though depending on your taste, that maybe considered an improvement ?) The pages are much bigger, the quality of the pages is first rate (though could always be better). None of the pages were sticking together for me, they all opened fine. Really glad I purchased this remastered version of the Asylum. Now if only Mr Punch could be done as an artist's edition (but I suspect that will never happen as who wants to keep looking back at old work - I can't wait to see what amazing artwork Dave McKean produces over the next few years and beyond). Totally recommended
