Extremely fast shipping- quality tub
In renovating our 50 year old bathroom, we wanted to replace an American Standard cast iron tub. We also wanted a deeper soaking tub, and this fit the existing alcove space. Our contractor told us to go to Lowes or Home Depot to order what we wanted, but the delivery was going to be at least 3 weeks, which would have delayed the renovation. I never really considered buying something like a bathtub from Amazon, but I did a search, and I was surprised that the tub was available and "in stock with Amazon" (I always feel better if Amazon stocks something large like this, if there is a problem). After I carefully checked the model and drain position, I ordered it on a Thursday morning at 8 AM. Amazon said it would ship withing 1 to 2 days and even stated that expected shipping would be Monday. However, I received an email that the tub was shipped the same day as the order on Thursday. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call at 7:30 THE NEXT MORNING that the trucking shipper (located in a town about 1 hour away from mine) had it and wanted to deliver it the same day (Friday). So I got the tub the next day with no shipping cost (Amazon Prime). As far as the tub, it appears to be high quality porcelain over a steel and epoxy laminate material, thicker than the original cast iron but much lighter. American Standard says the material is stronger than cast iron, and the installers like the lighter weight. We also ordered the deeper drain overflow - combined with this tub's deeper basin, you do have a true soaker tub in a five foot alcove area. The side of the tub that your back would rest is sloped so you can sink down to your neck easily. We haven't taken a bath yet, and I am curious about the non-slip bottom. There are numerous "patches" where the bottom has a finish that I would describe as feeling like sandpaper, when dry. I am sure that it would be very "non-slip", but I wonder what it would feel like on your bare posterior when sliding over it. I suspect that it will be OK when filled with water, and I definitely would want the protection from slips when showering. Overall, very pleased with the purchase.

Deep tub!
This tub is very deep for a standard bath tub, it's what I was looking for to replace the original tub/surround that came in my mid '70s home. I'm 6'2" tall and wanted something that would cover my thighs with water if/when I take a bath, this fit the bill. It will require lowering your drain attachment a couple of inches so be prepared for some plumbing modifications.

Solid, Basic Tub ... Still Wonderful After 5 Years
The media could not be loaded. I bought this tub after looking at tons of expensive, impractical soaking tubs. All of those other tubs looked really good, but when it came down to it I worried about one thing: water splashing out of the tub. With this much simpler, classic tub I could be sure that my tub surround would capture all of the water. It was easy to install myself and, having now used it for several months, this tub is great. (I should say that I bought the tub for a complete bathroom remodel.) The tub is deep and, most of all, keeps the water in the tub! That is just too awesome. My only complaint about this tub is the etched bottom. It has some kind of "safety texture" on the bottom that tends to get a bit dirty. Does it add traction? I do not know. Cleaning the bottom every month or so does the trick, so it's really no big deal.Note that tubs are all right hand and left hand, which designates where the drain is. This Left hand tub has the drain on the left side when you're standing on the long side of the tub that faces the room.UPDATE: After several years of use by our family, there has not been a single day when this tub hasn't been wonderful. No nicks or cracks or anything like that. When we clean it up, it's just like new. Note that in my video, which I'm posting with this update, that I mention the traction sections on the base of the tub. These traction sections are subtle and nice, but they do collect dirt just a bit during use. They easily clean up with BonAmi.

Bigger than I Thought it Would be
Good tub. Our plumber installed … but he informed us that the instructions provided were for a jetted tub - glad it wasn’t a DIY attempt.Do better American Standard! Other than that we’re happy with our purchase.

THANK YOU, AMAZON!
We are updating two *really* ugly bathrooms, and needed new tubs for both. We like the durability of porcelain over cast iron, but didn't want the weight. After doing much research, it seemed an American Standard Americast tub would be ideal. The problem was getting one within our time frame. Our plumber said that due to the years of rotten economy in our state and the abrupt halt of new home construction, his distributors were only stocking the least-expensive tubs because that's what was selling. Getting one of these would take at least 3 weeks, even though I gave him 4 different models as possibilities. We didn't have that much time due to tight scheduling with our drywall installer, so I started searching the internet for a source. Turned out our first choice was available on Amazon at a good price AND with a delivery date that fit our schedule! (Who knew?) The tubs arrived a day before expected, and we love them. Our plumber was very impressed with the quality and finish, they installed without a problem and look beautiful. The finish is incredible--slick and flawless. I'm sure these will be no trouble to keep clean, and this style has the simple, uncluttered lines we like to have in our home.A+ to Amazon on this product and transaction. I'm not sure what we'd have done if I hadn't found the tubs here. We probably would have had to go with something neither of us really liked, but, fortunately, Amazon's wide product range and great service solved the problem.
