Very nicely made and resolution is clear and crisp. I actually used it to check the stylus rake angle on my cartridge and it worked perfectly. The software that comes with it is effective though the some of the help sections were unclear to me. I found several youtube videos with good instruction on how to configure the software and use the drawing component. easy peasy.

We use a Dino-Lite at work with measurement capability (this same model). I just bought this one for home, and already have several uses for it in diagnosing mechanical failures, machining defects, and just like I use it for at work, measuring dimensions, angles, etc.. I'm sure it will be fun for looking at bugs, etc., too, but I primarily plan to use it for detailed mechanical inspection, and it is perfect to be able to take pictures and e-mail them to friends or clients.With the manual focus it is a bit tough to get repeatability without a well planned setup, but it is easy enough to do with some effort. My first setup resulted in a .001" repeatability but took a little bit of effort to get right.The onboard LEDs are great for almost all conditions, and if you set up the image well by providing some contrast (fingers holding a part work well), you can get very clear images.Additionally, it is easy to make pictures, but mor importantly, a video to show defects as you rotate the part and get lighting on different areas that are difficult or impossible to understand with a few pictures.So, in summary, I bought one of these because I use one at work, and bought my dad one, as well. Highly recommended!

I got this one to replace a cheaper pencil-shaped one, thinking that this microscope would have better resolution. I use it to set the VTA and azimuth on my turntable cartridge. This one didn’t work well at all. The software that allows you to superimpose angles on an image is great, but the picture has no color, is grainier than my cheap scope, and the led lights are either on or off, and neither setting is optimal. So back it went. Too bad the software doesn’t work with other brand scopes.

The software is easy to set up and works great and the pix are also great. A clear plastic used for calibrating measurements came with it which helps give you a better guess. The only improvement that I would make is to add a couple of horizontal and vertical grid lines that can be flipped on or off to help give more accurate measurements.

Loaded software as instructed on 2 different computers. Plugged microscope into each, software unable to start microscope. Followed troubleshooting directions to no avail. What a POS. Returned for refund. Will look elsewhere.

Coming from a cinematic / DSLR background, initially I was a little disappointed by the resolution. However, I soon learned that it is sufficient, and you hardly need more detail than it offers. To see more, you move in closer and focus. The included software works great with Windows 7 and Windows 8, and the software supports two microscopes plugged and recording in at the same time.

I bought this about two weeks ago for work and it has quickly become an invaluable tool. We use it to inspect parts that customers send to us for inspection, looking for cracks and other types of defects. We manufacture our own equipment and our engineering department has used it to look at circuit boards, it is a real time saver. With the software we are able to take pictures and video to show our customers what we found and share it real time over web meetings.The software is simple to set up and use. The measurement fucntion is very useful and it even comes with a calibration scale. I bought the flexible stand Dino-Lite Digital Microscope Stand so that we could use it to inspect large parts for defects (think mini-basketball size). I am sure we will find many more uses with this as time goes on.

Use it regularly for analyzing electrical and mechanical components. Easy to install and great little tool.
