Very good value
My CD-based receiver quit after 8 years of use. The CD player stopped working a couple years ago - no big deal; I switched to the aux in and an MP3 player. But then the thing refused to turn on altogether. I have no need or desire to use CDs anymore, so I looked for an SD and/or USB deck. This deck has been working great for past few weeks that I have had it. Of course using an SD card there is no stopping or skipping when the boat hits waves like happened at times with the old CD deck. The radio has good reception, better than the old one, and the sound quality is decent considering the price. I like using SD cards, but there is no real navigation to locate songs by artist or folder. You can only skip ahead or back one song or ten songs. This is not a problem for me as I usually play songs in sequence anyway, but some may not like that. The display is all but unreadable in bright sunlight, but so was the old one. BTW I had to press and hold a button for a few seconds to get the thing to turn on the first time, which causes some consternation, as I thought the unit was defective at first. The instruction manual has minimal info and nothing on this "feature".

didn't last but a year
Bought this radio in Apr. of 2017 for use on the pontoon boat. Arrived on time and was a nice looking unit. Easy to install. Every thing great right out of the box. About the 3rd time out it started to cut out after about 30 min. of being turned on. I did some checking and could not find a problem. It's an older boat with a fuse bank, so I thought that might be it.Did some re wire work and had the same issue. The power would cut out for a few seconds and then come back on. It was only about $ 25.00 and I thought Oh Well, you get what u pay for and was learning to live with it. It died on Sat. I checked everything from one end to the other. I have power right up to the harness that plugs into the radio. I was gonna get the same radio, But it has doubled in price. To Bad, I really liked it. Will not buy a pyle unit again.

Good Radio for the money
So far so good. I just installed this unit, here are some quick observations:1. Good unit for the price.2. Wires are small. I like to use quick connects, but could not find any for wire that small.3. Cannot search for music, you can go one track forward or back, ten tracks forward or back, or sample the first five seconds of each track. So far this is the biggest dissapointment.4. Starts the track over when you turn the unit off and back on. I have no problem with that, but I have seen others complain about that issue.I will try to update this as I have a chance to put it through its paces.

Good value for the money
My old boat radio stopped working, and I wanted something inexpensive. The reviews on this one looked pretty good, and the price was low as it does not have a CD player. After installing it I can agree it sounds very good. Plenty of volume and sound quality is good. It's able to receive AM and FM stations within a reasonable distance (I do have a small external antenna connected). We've tried it with an I-POD player, thru the convenient front input jack, with good results.Note - my boat only has two speakers. This radio / player comes with wiring for a four speaker set up. At first I used all four speaker wires, and combined two of them together (2 sets of 2). That was a mistake. It did not damage the radio, but sound was bad. After disconnecting two of the four wires (and taping the ends off), it now sounds great. The remote that comes with it works, but only for a short distance if you point directly at it.

A pretty good radio.
I recently purchased this radio to replace an old one. I really just needed something that read SD cards. Anyway when i recieved it opened it. It was just as described. Also it was really easy to install. I was a little woried at first because it was a little lighter than i had expected, but so far i have had no problems with it. It reads SD cards realitively fast and the sound is better than i expected. I say the price is right for this bad boy. To date i am completely satisfide with this radio and i'll see if it can take the test of time.I highly recommend this.(UPDATE!)I've had this radio for going on two years now, and I have had no issues with it. It still plays all MP3 mediums be it SD card, USB, and AUX. I'm glad to say after such a long time I am still completely satisfied with my purchase.

Great Unit for Motorcycle!
Recently purchased a Pyle PLMR18 AM/FM-MPX stereo with both SD and USB connections. The unit has every bit as good a sound as the Kenwoods I used to put on the bike. The pluses are there is no CD unit so the unit is much lighter and doesn't vibrate, there is no removable face plate to vibrate loose and brake the power connection, and with the SD and USB ports there's the options for MP3 music on either the SD card or a Flash Drive. Simple, no moving parts, no wires to connect, makes this unit perfect for adaptation to my motorcycle! Thanks for a great unit!

Buyer Beware - Absolutely Negative Customer Service Rating
The radio installed fine and worked fine for about four hours. For no apparent reason, it went dead. The Amazon seller (3 Kings Audio) was no help and directed me to the manufacturer's web site (Pyle Audio). Per Pyle Audio/Sound Around's instructions, the dead radio was shipped on August 6th and received by them at their Brooklyn NY address on August 10th at 10:03 am. The USPS tracking was sent to them as proof but they deny having received the radio. As of October 4th, Pyle/Sound Aroud has not repaired or replaced the radio. Over the last two months I have spoke to Kenny at Sound Around (718-535-1800 ext 341) about five times. Each time he promises he will remedy the situation. I am still waiting. To sum it up: the radio worked for about 4 hours and then quit. Amazon's seller (3 Kings Audio) provided no customer support. Pyle Audio/Sound Around does not respond in writing and has given only empty verbal promises over two months. The boating season is now over.Do yourself a favor - select a different seller and radio manufacturer. Even if it costs much more - you will be so much happier. The rating system should allow a negative (less than zero stars) rating. My NY Consumer Protection complaint comes next.
