Loved it,not sure if it was ment to be a humor book or instructional. Either way well worth the read
Very good read even if you have no idea who Forrest is. This is the first book I've finished reading in last few years. I've started more then I care to mention but this book I found hard to put down.Next up I'll try his other book, hopefully it's just as humorous.GO FORREST GO!!!!-

Awesome book !!
This book is one of the best book I have even though the language and content might be rated R if it's a movie but aren't they all like that most of the time now? ;pThe first few pages has already give you picture about this book, Forrest Griffin is a very educated guy but he just choose to be like who he is right now. Dirty language, crazy decision and lifestyle in some period of his lifetime but still he has a class that he shows in his real message after all the jokes and crazy stories and foul language he uses. I can't put this book down. There are a lot of great true story ( or may be not?) jokes just like when you watch Pineapple Express or The Hangover movie, you're gonna laugh hard for the sillines, stupidity or bad lucks. But also you can learn a lot of truth in preparing your life you are really serious want to join the world of MMA or cage fighting. Top notch!!By the way, the lesson we can learn and apply in this book is pretty good, especially if you have experienced or know somebody who has that experience, you 'll laugh hard and agree with his lessons or messages.Forrest Griffin himself is a former UFC lighheavywight champion after beating Quinton " Rampage" Jackson and he's the top 8 lighheavywight MMA fighter, now. He used to be a cop and finished his college education, being bullies target when he was young. This book is a real big hit true story and messages about life (again, it might not be true 100% but who cares, the book itself is awesome). Thanks

So he really is crazy.....
Great read, only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars is he spends quite abit of time laying out techniques and showing you how to do them. This was actually rather interesting but I was hopeing for more stories from his life as they were by far the best parts of the bookForrest is everybit as crazy as you think and more, this is a guy who has held genuine conversations with a video tape and his Friend knowing full well he wasn't there. It tells about how he got into the sport and abit about his life in general. Its mostly written as a informative look into how he trains and what all he does to get ready for a fight. He gives tips to aspiring MMA fighters and lays out the different between fighters and Martial artists. Its writtin in stages with each section being about a different aspect of the sport. It ends with him showing you how to do various techniques and gives detailed instructions for them, he also gives you his "Secret Moves" such as how to effectivly chock out a annoying child or defend yourself against a vicious poodle. The book is always funny and he really is a likeable guy. If you are a fan of Griffin or just want a easy light hearted read, this book is a good way to go.

Inspiring and Hilarious
I wasn't really sure what to expect from this book. I bought while looking for books on inspiration, but expected it to be more comical given the title and seeing that there was another Griffin book on how to survive the apocalypse. This book rocked my world. I was looking stupid as hell standing in the chow line laughing as loud as I was. This book will keep you entertained. I generally like to drag my books out over the course of at least a week, because I never know when the next one will get to my ship, but I read this one in about two days; though for a serious reader, it probably wouldn't take that long.Aside from being a nice change of pace and keeping me in good spirits while I was reading it, the book was inspiring since I like to think that I might one day be able to pursue a career in fighting, and I just think it's fun. Lots of good advice and good stories.Even if you don't give a rats arse about fighting, I still recommend this book. It's a fun read.

Good book
There were some complaints about this not being a training book. There are a lot of points about the physical, mental and emotional aspects of fighting that I was glad to read about and found useful. Also, if you don't have access to people who fight in the ring regularly, this is a great source to learn from one. I suppose if you're an experienced fighter it would be of less use to you. On the other hand, if you're an advanced fighter complaining about the lack of training content in a book basically meant for entertainment then you're barking up the wrong tree. Some of the humor was a little over the top. Some of it made me LOL for a couple minutes straight. It's written well for someone who prefers a sort of ADD approach to reading. Recommended if you are not looking for bleeding-edge training information and for lulz.

Better Than expected
I'm not normally a book reader. But when this book ended I was a little upset, and not in a bad way. I never thought that I would wish that a book was longer but I felt that way about GOT FIGHT. Usually I think all books are too long or written for some other person. I never once felt that way while reading this. It is not a book for those trying to learn about some magical technique to stop your opponent cold in its tracks. If that's what your looking for than I would suggest sticking with video games or the fantasies in your head. *Cough* LOSER *COUGH*. Instead though if you want something to read that speaks to the side of you that no one ever seems to understand. That side of you that you can never properly explain to anyone when they ask "why?" why do you fight, why do you put yourself through all the pain an sacrifice then this is for you.

A Funny and Entertaining Read
This book falls somewhere between and guide to life and tips for those wanting to take their fighting a little more seriously and move from sparring into proper ring or cage fights.Peppered with hints, tips, advice, philosophies, life stories, insights and lesson learned the hard way (that can be applied to life inside and outside the ring) it makes for an entertaining, informative and at times down-right hysterical read. You can also add scary to the list - because it quickly becomes apparent that Forrest is one sandwich short of a pic-nic... but then I guess you knew that, and that's why we love him. In it you'll find his views on dating, getting into clubs, diet, how to approach training and all manor of random subjects which seems to work well to convey Forrest's bonkers personality and give a refreshing take on the usual biographies or fight manuals fighters usually churn out - as I said before, this falls somewhere in between the too. This book would be a good read even if you didn't like fighting I think - although there are parts that focus solely on the subject (like how to choose the right gym and corner team for you, which might seem irrelevant to most), but it's still written in way that is witty and enjoyable. One thing i would say - the editor should have listened more to what Griffin had to say - time after time there were footnotes saying (I wanted to put this but the editor made me change it to this) and every time I thought - Yup Forrest you were right, that's much better, funnier etc. Take what he originally wanted to call the book for instance: "Who moved my nose?"... Much funnier in my opinion and much more in keeping with the rest of the book.I lost count of the number of quotes or anecdotes like the "title change" above I was going to mention in this review, so probably won't put anymore in - read the Amazon description lifted directly from the books inside cover - the book is basically written in that style... If you find that funny, you'll find this book funny. The stories about him (which I assume are his child hood buddies recounting memories and stories past) don't so much as give you any insight into Forrest's mind, as make you think - OMG this guy is bonkers. You can't get any insight into a mind like this. It's beyond relating too. It's borderline he should be sectioned really. I read the book in 2 days and enjoyed it - I think you will too - especially if you have an interest in UFC, Fighting, or Forrest Griffin... One thing I would say too is - don't forget to buy the paper back. I thought it only came in hardback so ended up paying more.

A highly entertaining read.
Forrest Griffin isnt the best fighter in the world, hes not the most intellegent, hes not even the best looking - all things that Forrest would and even does admit in this book. Griffin however may just be the funniest and perhaps the craziest fighter in the world.First of all this book is not really a biography or a training manual. In fairness it is kind of difficult to catagorise exactly what it is youre holding in your hands here, but what is beyond a doubt is that its a very entertaining, funny and frequently baffling read. From the acknowledgements on the back of the book (such as UFC legend Chuck Liddells testament that Forrest must have eaten lead paint as a kid and that reading this book will only make you dumber),to the 'manliness' quiz that all readers must pass before even being given permission by forrest to read the book (where you will find out exactly what Forrest whispered into the ear of Dan Severn during his professional MMA debut!), to the instructional section of the book (which includes such dubious gems as the 'Asian dart'), to the insight into Forrests philosophies on life and fighting (for example pre-fight abstainence is simply denying yourself sex that you could be having), to the life of the man himself and all the crazy stuff hes got up to (such as training MMA drunk to simulate defending himself if he got jumped on the way home from the bar), the whole thing is just funny...and kind of worrying...

funny and informative
This was a great book and had some really laugh out loud moments. It gives you an insight into the mind of a fighter and there are actually some good tips for aspiring fighters to follow. I would definitely recommend to fans of Forrest, Mma athletes or Ju-jitsu practitioners if only for a good laugh and some reminders as to why they take part in their sport. It's also interesting to hear from some of Forrests friends, telling stories about how crazy he was as a youth and his revenge stories about them are hilarious as well. In short it's very unlikely you will regret reading this book

Funtastic
This is a fun book, with some gems of insight into winning, losing and a general attitude for life. I'm not sure about the random insertions about Forrest's general craziness or about how he watched a particular film repeatedly for a year and in the end I began to skip these.Overall though, its humorous book which caused me choke on my coffee, and any book that does that is worth the read.Off to read Randy Couture's 'Becoming the Natural: My Life in and Out of the Cage' - gonna be wicked

Got Fight? is Fun!
I bought this for my 19 year old son who loves boxing, martial arts and, well, fighting! He doesn't read a lot, but he read this cover to cover and laughed most of the way through it. He even stopped playing on the computer whilst he finished it! So if you have no idea what present to get any young men in your life (son, nephew, grandson or boyfriend) I would highly recommend Got Fight?
