What's Your Angle, Pythagoras? (Charlesbridge Math Adventures)

Our 5 & 6 year old children love this book. It is fun for them to read about another child who likes geometry. We plan to purchase the next book.

When your young child starts learning certain math concepts early and then expands on them beyond the basics, you know you are growing a little fruitful mind that will go on through life hungry for learning.This book does REMARKABLE job infecting a kid with huger for learning.Get it and try it, I am sure your kids will love it just as mine did.

I'm a Devotee of Susan Wise Bauer and this was one of the many wonderful choices she recommends in her book The Well Trained Mind. I've read the Story Of The World by Bauer to my kindergartner and she has a huge thirst for history. I would encourage parents of young children not to underestimate the things that they can understand and remember. Be bold! Pass up the potato chip brain food that is Dora the Explorer and introduce your small children to history and science and art and math. You will be amazed and delighted by the pleasure they find in it when you make it regularly available to them. My six-year-old enjoyed the adventures of young Pythagoras because he appears to be about her age, he is very adventurous, and she is very keen on ancient Greece right now. Even if they don't fully comprehend all of the math the first time they read it, this is a great introduction. Get Pythagoras And The Ratios, too!

So happy to have found this book, I can't stop talking about it. Now all my fellow homeschooling mom's want to barrow it. A treasure for sure!!

This is a very engaging story. The illustrations are bright and appealing and reflect historical context. The story is told amusingly but is full of facts both historical and mathematical. Appropriate for very young children as a read-aloud and for students even in Middle School either as a read aloud class introduction to the math to be learned or for their own reading. It conveys the sense of a real person being at the center of math developments and emphasizes the purpose of our learning the math. A very practical resource for emphasizing life skills.

I bought this book because it was inexpensive so I figured there was no harm in purchasing this if it wasn't great. It is such a great story and walks the reader through the Pythagorean theorem in such a fun and engaging way! The book itself was a great condition too!

I've never seen such an intuitive presentation of why the Pythagorean theorem is true.

I bought this book to read to my 6th grade math class. We had been working on perimeter and area and I was trying to explain the Pythagorean Theorem to them as an introduction to what they would see in 7th grade. Only the "math" minds were really able to get the concept, until I read them the book. The book goes into great detail using fantastic visuals that link well to the story. The kids loved it and many more said they were now able to understand the formula. I'm even planning on showing it to my 8th grade coworker - they were having trouble understanding it as well.

I purchased this book as I always give come historical context to my students before giving a lesson. It helps the children to appreciate what has been discovered and helps them to remember that it does not matter if they don't understand a theorem right away, it took years and years of thoughtful work to Pythagoras to understand it himself :P

Great book. My 9 year old son loved it For! It's great for setting a foundation or a basic understanding. Can easily be read to young readers who have not yet touched on the topic.

I bought the book as my grandson's maths group has the same title. We loved it so much that it was an automatic choice for him to take in to school at the earliest opportunity for "show and tell." ( He's eight.)

We were not taught the purpose of maths andI want to show my children (and myself) why we need it and how its all around us. So this book teaches the purpose and also who came up with the theory adding to thier knowledge and incorporating a historic figure.
