The Best of the Best for TRAKKER knives

The value of this knife is outstanding. It has a Real Wood handle, it is HAND Made, it has a longer knife blade than most if not all Trakker knives, and the shape is most Functional. It is very sharp right out of the box. It is packaged very well to protect it. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. A Big Deal to me is it has one of the best Finger Guards to protect you from an unforeseen accident. And it has Multiple holes to tie it to a stick (whether you would want to do this is irrelevant, it is an extra Option available). Because of the price and shape of say the Tops Trakker, I never thought I would get this type of knife, but I love this one. What I mean by shape, is that the Tops curve in the front does not make the point very useful for any type of stabbing or point work in wood (at least not practical at all). I like that this is not only Survival (Bushcrafty "is this a word") but it is also Tactical / Defensive in its shape. And it is not too heavy. I also like the Sheath (Real Leather and very thick), but I will have to add my own Belt loop / connection so I can also have the option to carry it vertically. I also like that it is D2 (tool steel), for some what stainless, easy to sharpen, holds an edge respectfully (of course not like 3V, but usually better than 1095). I am not a fan at all of 1095 steel. It rusts very easy and it does not hold an edge very long. In fact I own only one ESEE knife and I got it in S35VN (love this steel). Every knife will usually at some point be used with food preparation, so I do not like knives that have the rust resistant coatings that scrape off into everything. Hence, another reason I love this BIGCAT Tracker with D2 Steel that does not need a coating. The Only coating I do like is the DLC (like on the Cold Steel knives [usually with the CTS-XHP or S35VN], not there old black painted coating). CTS-XHP another good steel but because of Expense and Lack of availability most manufacturers seem to have given up on it. But I like S35VN a little better than CTS-XHP for the little more of toughness. Anyway, all my opinion for what that is worth.

Great Tracker Knife AND Customer Service

This is a full size Tracker knife - not one of the "mini" Trackers that are sold on Amazon. It is hefty and sturdy. Mine is the D2 steel model as I prefer D2 steel for this type of heavy duty tool. My original knife had a flaw in the blade that I did not notice until over a year after I purchased it. When I contacted Big Cat about it and provided photos and documentation, the customer service representative immediately sent a new knife that is PERFECT. Couldn't be happier with the knife or the customer service. Would recommend to a friend and will probably by another knife from Big Cat in the future.

Unbelievable Value!!!

I've always wanted a tracker knife but never wanted to spend $200 for something I was certain was kind of a gimmick knife.I took the leap on this one just to see what hat it was all about. The knife is amazing for the price. I can't imagine the TOPS being any better except made in America and a better sheath. Great grinds, handles done well, sharp out of the box. Super well balanced, the weight hits forward like I feel it should, has a nice choil to protect your hands. Whoever makes these knows what they are doing. The sheath is well made and serviceable, it's not top grain leather, I'm not even sure it's actually leather, maybe leatherish substance is a better term but for $60 I don't care. I'll have a sheath made for it. This thing is a beast and we'll worth the money. I can't wait to get it in the woods and see how it holds up.UPDATE: 12/15/19I got some time with the knife this weekend and I'm even more impressed. The sheath is more than serviceable, I just wish it drew out right side up scout carry for me. The D2 is awesome, it was sharp out of the box but I hit it with a ceramic rod then the strop and it's stupid sharp. I honestly can't believe how sharp I got this knife. Snag one of these before the price jumps up on them.

Great Overall Value

I really dig this knife and I'm happy I purchased one. At this price point, I was expecting to be disappointed, but I have to say, that I'm not. It's a great design, looks sexy AF, and as another person mentioned, a lot of the modifications people have suggested or actually made to the original Tracker have been implemented on this one.Out of box, it's covered in oil, so be careful handling it. It took a bit of dish soap to get it cleaned up. And it's not the sharpest, but sharp enough to play around with.Upon handling it, it felt pretty natural in my hand. Felt well balanced as well, but it might not actually be.I wanted to try it out, so I went to the fire pit and start chopping some wood. Worked wonderfully. I also tried feathering some sticks, and once again, very impressed. I then decided to split some hard wood, and it did it no problem. I also did a bit of carving with the straight part of the blade, and it worked. You're not gonna carve a statue with it, but you can wittle with it.The thing I was the most curious about was the sawback / notcher. It fell pretty short in this area. The teeth are all even and level, so it isn't able to get a real bite in order to notch.I used it for a couple days around the fire pit, and overall I was really impressed. I did end up wrapping the handle in para-cord because, as comfortable as it felt, once I started using it, the handle felt a little skinny. Once I wrapped the handle, I could notice a huge difference. So yeah, definitely meeting my needs so far, but I wanted to be able to utilize the sawback. So I looked at a few Tracker knives that have sawbacks that actually work and thought how I could get mine to work. I took a Dremel to the teeth and SLOWLY ground down parts of them so they weren't all level. The grinding I've done so far is barely noticeable, but after I made the adjustments, the sawback is actually working. I'm gonna continue to grind the teeth down, but in small increments. Once I make a few more adjustments, I'm confident that the sawback will work the way I want it to.And now, the sheath. It definitely leaves a bit to be desired. The belt straps aren't the same length, so if I were to actually wear it on my belt horizontal, I imagine it might flap a little. Then the snap on the strap that secures the handle didn't properly snap, so I didn't trust it to stay in play. I ended up hammering on the snap while it was snapped and that seemed to make a difference. So, given the price point, I am very happy with this knife. I'd suggest getting it if you're on the fence about it. I've researched A LOT Tracker clones, and from what I've found, this design is the best and now that own, I'd say it true.Plan to really sharpen it once I get the teeth ground down. And yes, I understand that grinding down the teeth will void whatever warranty there is, but I'm okay with that.I'll post an update once I get where I want and use it in the woods.
