Worst book I have purchased
Worst book I have purchased...ever. It appears to have been written for AX 2009 and updated to 2012 with zero editing. Examples do not work. Examples refer to features that do not exist or are incorrect. If you are expecting to be able to work through this book and actually follow along developing a test application as you go...don't waste your money.

good
Well written book. It won't make you an AX guru, but helps you to lay a solid foundation for further exploration.

Easy to Follow Introduction to the Vast World of AX
Learning MS Dynamics AX 2012 Programming [Rasheed, Dalen], is a concise and easy to follow introduction to the vast world of AX development. It's probably a better way to ease into development than the Microsoft courseware, as the authors do a nice job of keeping focused on the essentials. The format of the book is similar to other Packt books, which makes it easy to follow and includes lots of screen-shots that help the reader to retain more of the material. As mentioned in the Preface, this book is intended for new AX developers or possibly functional consultants who want a basic understanding of how AX works under the hood. I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment. There are more in-depth books (i.e. Inside Miscrosoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3) that I would recommend (strictly for developers) for a more thorough understanding of the nitty-gritty of AX.If you are looking for a basic introduction to the world of AX development, you will not be disappointed.

Great Starter for aspiring AX Developers
Learning MS Dynamics AX 2012 Programming is a very good starter book for aspiring AX Developers. It is written in an easy to understand format and covers a fair bit of areas like MorphX, X++, .Net, Integration etc. I would not say it is an indepth book, but it is definitely more than a primer to AX 2012 Programming. If you are new to AX Programming then this book is definitely for you. The book also provides code examples and screenshots to help you follow the book easily.

Excellent AX Introduction !!!
This is an excellent book for anyone who is new to Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. If you want to be a Dynamics AX developer, I highly recommend you read this book first. The first chapter provides a thoughtful overview of the AX environment, with all the important concepts clearly explained. Next, the X++ language, data tables, forms, list pages, menus, queries, views, data manipulation, validation and integration (with CSV, binary, and XML files, and ODBC) are introduced. Chapter 8 reviews the most important AX modules Inventory, General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Later chapters then go on to talk about creating your own AX modules, .NET CLR, and web services. The last chapter is an introduction to Enterprise Portal.Overall, I find this book a good read and the examples and explanations easy to understand. The authors presented the material in a clear and concise manner so you can start working in AX right away. Dynamics AX has exploded in popularity recently and there are dozens of books published. But very few books present a clear path for beginning to intermediate developers to learn the system. This book fulfilled that need admirably. Again, I highly recommend it.

A must have in your library
This is a wonderful book for people who want to learn X++ programming and also how to use it in practice. The first seven chapters introduce the reader to the concepts and syntax of X++ and how to use it in integrating external data via a text file, XML or ODBC data. Chapter 8 explains in clear term how to solve many real tasks a programmer will face like integrating with the standard AX module (with examples of Inventory, General Ledger, Account Receivable and Payable). The last chapters cover programming using .Net, writing WEB services and programming the Enterprise Portal. It covers in an excellent way all the arguments useful for an AX developer, and it is easy to read and complete in the explanations and examples.

Complete waste of money
Got to be the worse tutorial book I have ever used. The book is full of errors and seems to be a rehash of the AX2009 version I have come across since buying this book. It so full of inaccuracies that I have ended up putting it in the bin in frustration. The descriptions do not match the screen shots and explain things so badly. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED on this tosh.
