1 Surround Sound Home Theater Speakers System was hands down the worst Amazon purchase I have ever made
Frisby’s 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater Speakers System was hands down the worst Amazon purchase I have ever made. This has been A NIGHTMARE. Here’s why you should never-ever no-matter-what under any circumstances, buy these, or ANY speakers from Frisby. When I ordered this system I was under the impression it did not require a receiver, and it doesn't! Kind of. For this speaker system to deliver 5.1 surround sound it requires that your TV have no less than EIGHT RCA outputs (4 red & 4 white.) Unfortunately my TV doesn't happen to have this many cable outputs. (I have never seen a TV that does, but I'm sure they exist.) So despite what the “Answered Questions” section on this Amazon page says, you WILL need to buy a receiver if you want REAL surround sound. Receivers are expensive, even when bought from a thrift store. So just bear in mind, without spending more money, these speakers won't actually be giving you surround sound. Some of the reviews mentioned that this system comes with an AUX cord, which can be used in lieu of the RCA cables. But AUX is 2.1 by default, which means you will only hear left sound and right sound, like your ipod headphones. It will NOT give you left-front, right-front, left-back, right-back, & center, which is what real surround sound is.Bluetooth works, but if I walked out of the living room with my cellphone the sound immediately cut out. Perhaps this is not the speaker's fault. I have concrete walls and Bluetooth signal strength is weak even in the best systems. But if a cordless signal is so feeble you can’t even leave the room, it’s really no better than using a cord, right? These aren't the only problems I have with the Frisby speakers. The cables for the individual speakers are painfully short. I mean Really REALLY short. I have a small living room, only 13'x13'. Originally I had intended to run the wires from the subwoofer underneath my rug over to some bookcases where I would have set my speakers, but the cables aren't long enough. Not even close! In fact, the speaker wires are so short, that just to reach my bookcases the wires must be suspended in mid-air on either side of my couch. It looks like I have the world’s laziest giant spider living in my apartment. I have to choose between: putting the subwoffer under the coffee table so that I have six different ugly cords running across my floor in six different directions, or warning people not to walk into trip-wires every time they go to sit down. At least it comes with a remote?Worst of all, the sound quality itself is AWFUL. Very... shallow? It’s BAD. Noticeably so. I’m not some snobby audiophile either, if I was I wouldn’t be buying cheap speakers off of Amazon. Seriously. It would be an exaggeration to say that the sound coming out of these speakers is half as good as the built in ones on a 2nd gen iPod Touch. It sounds like I’m listening to a movie on a singing Hallmark Greeting card. The bass only seems to come from the subwoofer. I know that this is what the subwoofer is for, but the only sound coming from the other speakers is tinny and flat. No amount of adjusting via my remote seems to improve this. I know it’s silly to expect excellent quality sound for just $130, but the positive reviews and product description really made me believe I would be getting better than what I got. My friend made me laugh when he said, "It sounds like you put a piece of tinfoil on the lid of of a garbage-can, then climbed inside and beat the insides with a stick." I appreciate all the lengths this company went to, designing a set of speakers that actually doesn’t look half bad. But the sound quality itself, the inability to have actual surround sound without purchasing an expensive converter or receiver, useless Bluetooth, and the inconveniently short cables make this system unusable.FINALLY, the customer service. I requested a return only two days after I received this product in the mail. DERHERM emailed me and told me to reply with an explanation of why I wanted to return their speakers. I wrote them back with my reasons and they agreed to a refund. DERHERM then emailed me a return label WITHOUT PREPAID POSTAGE and told me I had to pay for my own return shipping. It cost $69 dollars to ship these back. The woman working behind the counter felt so bad she knocked it down to $59 dollars, but that’s still almost half what I paid for these speakers to begin with. Worst of all? They won’t give me my refund. I emailed them asking why I hadn’t received a refund yet and they told me they hadn’t received my package, when FedEx had already sent me proof of delivery three days before that. It’s been eight days since they received my return, and still they won’t send me my refund. So here I am, $189 dollars poorer than I was, with nothing but a crappy story to tell while I wait to get only half, OR NONE of my money back. If you are looking for decent speakers my advice is to just keep checking craigslist and Goodwill until a nice soundsystem/receiver combo comes along. Do yourself a favor, avoid this junk like it’s the plague. And NEVER EVER BUY FROM DERHERM.

Bad out of box!
I purchased this as a Christmas gift and was unable to set it up until lat February, which is too late for return. Within a few minutes after powering it up, the subwoofer starting humming. This also happens when nothing is connected to it; just power connected. Now I'm stuck with non-working product and out $100. I will not be looking at any Frisby products in the future! One star rating is too high for this one.

M'eh...decent sound at least...
Dont believe the written description. Not satellite speakers(are all wired), no batteries for remote, no extra fuse (as if one can be put anywhere), though not advertised, that's not a time setting in the pic... sounds good when on fixed audio not variable when in TV audio options. At least this has some decent sound and flashy looks with the wood grain option for around $100 and that is what i was looking for; is why i still gave it the 4 stars......m'eh....time to spread them out and deal with some wire management.

The speakers work fine, but the remote does not
The speakers work fine, but the remote does not. Every time I want to use this system I have to turn on and adjust everything from the sub which gets annoying after a while. Don't bother purchasing if you plan on placing it in an awkward position like I did, because the remote is completely useless.

I love my old ones better
They are ok. I love my old ones better, even though they were much older technology. These would probably function better with a different sound card. But for the time being they are ok.

I just got this in the mail ten minutes ago and I already have it set up and working. Set up is really simple l. One thing to keep in mind is that when you first set up the system the volume for the individual speakers is low and you will have to adjust it for the sound you want. It looks ok the speakers are good but the front of the sub has cheap wood colored stickers that are already falling off. The sound quality is good but I'm breaking them in correctly so I won't be able to tell how loud they are until I've broken them in for a few weeks and crank it up for the first time

Way better sound than expected
Way better sound than expected. Only don't like that when turned off the screen always blinks dashes. Unplug when not using to stop the power waste.

Looks great! The remote control don't work properly sometimes (nothing really serious) but it's not loud enough even for small rooms
