The Preferred Dark Chocolate
I wanted this movie for a really long time. I grew up with Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the one with Gene Wilder. I enjoyed this film when I saw it in theaters. When this came on DVD in 2005, I asked if my mother or aunt would buy it for me. They refused because it was too weird for them. They ended up buying Hoodwinked instead.I guess I understand their reason, they grew up with the 1971 film, my older brother used to watch it on VHS all the time. Now that I can afford to buy the movies I want. This was a must have. I do prefer this film a bit more over the original. No offense, but this one didn’t have a lot of musical numbers that weren’t needed. And Dahl’s family approved this film. The film comes with a collectible booklet with full color shots and images from the set of the film. Along with a note from the director himself Tim Burton. (I just added that stuff on his face to be funny!) The pictures in the booklet are pretty cool, this set is similar to the Batman 1989 20th Anniversary set, another movie directed by Burton. The quality of the film is full 1080. Meaning that there’s no black bars when you play it on your HD TV. I like that quality the most, because it proves that you’re not missing anything when you watch it. This will play on a Xbox One or PS4 perfectly whichever one you have. I don’t think it will work well on old Blu-Ray players made in 2011 or older, because those are outdated. The main menu is like any Warner Bros. menu. That means when you load the disc, there will be no previews, it will play the movie automatically. You’ll have a pop-up menu throughout the movie which gives you options for Languages, Scene Selections and Special Features. If you want to get to the real main menu, you have to wait till the movie is done or skip to the end, like any other WB Blu-Ray. But the downside is like any other WB Blu-Ray, you have to suffer through all those Warnings against piracy in practically every language before you get to the menu. You can skip it, but it’s over 30 languages. It’s gonna take a while.By the time you get to the main menu. It’s not as impressive as you think. It’s a blue menu with a bunch of options. A basic WB menu. This is still worth a buy, it’s a great collectors set and if you enjoy the movie as much as I do. Watching this will be like enjoying that sweet, rich, dark chocolate.

DIFFERENT STORY LINE
4 stars because, the stories didn't align to the original story. The movie was pretty goof tho! I love Johnny lol. Even tho the story line is kinda different i still really like the movie. Most of it is the same but if you are a die hard fan like (ME) then you'll understand. I don't want to tell too much about the movie but I bought it and I don't regret it one bit!!

Surprisingly delightful
Hard to compete with Gene Wilder and the classic Willie Wonka, but my kids and I were delighted by this interpretation. It stayed close to the book, the few additions (Wonka’s past) were tastefully done and added to the film. The kids all said his aesthetic was weird and he looked like a girl, but that he was funny and not scary or mean at all. I likewise thought the previews made him seem weird and kind of spooky but he didn’t come off that way in the film at all. Other than one use of the “R” word, there was nothing offensive or objectionable on the whole film. I preferred the music of the original oompa loompas but these ones were charming in their own right. Give it a try for family night!

Tim Burton Strikes Again
You may be wondering, "How many times can Tim Burton possibly use Johnny Depp and his other regulars in a movie, and still come up with something you haven't already seen?" Well let me assure you, this makes at least one more. It has been a very long time since I read the book, so I Honestly can't comment on the movie's accuracy to the book. I can, however, say that the basic plot is the same, with possibly less deviation from the book than the first movie. Notice I say less deviation. I do not say less enhancement, because Burton did add tons of clever and hilarious (albeit slightly creepy) little quips touches. I laughed out loud, delightedly, even uncontrollably, on numerous occasions throughout this movie. I have seen it more than once by now, and still take great pleasure in the little puns and in the portrayal of characters. The characters in this movie are rendered with great taste. Charlie is the unassuming and obviously pure and good-hearted boy he was in the book, as are his parents and grandparents. Augustus, Violet, Veruca, and Mike TV are over the top, obnoxious, and despicable, in a way that makes their individual failures quite gratifying. I get a good kick out of Violet's mother, who has the most intensely expectant stare anyone has ever seen. If any character was changed from the book, it's Willy Wonka. I'm sure he wasn't nearly as disturbed, creepy, and awkward as he is in this movie. The movie does, however, explain the reasons for his ways due to his tough, anti-candy father, and his isolation in the chocolate factory. He also comes around to likeability as the movie progresses, undergoing the necessary personal growth that is required in a true hero.As you can see, I gave the movie 5 stars. The entertainment value is there, without a doubt. As is the case with many Burton films, it may be a little creepy for very young children. But anyone with an appreciation for the quirky, the colorful, and the touching, should love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
