A BARGAIN COMFORTER THAT YOU CAN FEEL COMFORTABLE BUYING! HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW...
To be honest, the cheap price of this comforter nearly scared me off. I had been shopping for a summer weight queen size to put in my duvet cover, and this was about a quarter of the price of even the least expensive comforters at BBB and Company Store. How could this possibly be any good? But all the four and five star reviews here persuaded me to give it a try, and I'm very happy that I did!Right out of the package, the look and feel exceeded anything I expected. The outer shell of polyester microfiber had an attractive and muted white-on-white embossed pattern and a soft feel. The stitching appeared perfect and of high quality, though you're not going to get a fancy piped border at this price point. Surprisingly, it does have tie straps for duvet covers that include ties to hold the comforter in place. Additionally, the down alternative fill was well-distributed throughout the sewn-through squares, lofted nicely after it had been out of the packing bag for a few hours, and seemed an appropriate amount for a lightweight comforter.Since most new fabrics are treated with some sort of finish that I always find objectionable, the first thing I did was wash and dry this comforter, and it came out perfectly. This bodes well for future launderings. And then it went into my duvet cover.I tend to sleep a little on the "warm" side, and I have a memory foam mattress which doesn't help. So I was concerned that this comforter might not be light enough for summer use here in NYC, but it's a perfect weight--exactly what I was hoping to find. I know other reviews say this comforter is too hot--but since husbands and wives routinely battle it out in "the temperature wars," why expect agreement here on Amazon?SO... what are you giving up compared to pricier comforters?First, as nice as this one looks and feels, my daughter's basic Primaloft comforter from Company Store looks and feels even nicer. But is it four times nicer, which was the difference in price? Not even close. Plus, the look and feel matters a whole lot less if you're using this in a duvet cover.Second, this comforter is not true to the size stated: it was two inches shorter in width, and three inches shorter in length. In a duvet cover, you want a comforter that's the same size or slightly larger, so it doesn't shift around. So this ended up being smaller than I expected, and it does shift a bit... but I'll live with it at this price point. However, I deducted one star for it not being true to the stated measurements. Finally, while I might have listed long-term durability as a question mark for such an inexpensive comforter, some reviews (via follow-up postings) state that this isn't an issue, and I tend to believe that's true.To sum up: sure, you can find nicer comforters at MUCH higher prices, but the price to quality ratio of this one is off-the-charts, and a "buy" recommendation doesn't get much easier than this.Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope you find it helpful in making a buying decision. I do try to answer questions posted in the comments section of my reviews.

Wonderful lightweight duvet insert!
We weren't sure whether to order this comforter because there weren't any reviews. We're very happy we did. We were looking for a really lightweight comforter to put into our duvet cover. This is very lightweight - the package seemed a bit bigger than a standard pillow (we got a king size). I washed it and dried it in a normal washer and dryer, and it turned out beautifully. We like the way it looks so much that we're using it without a duvet cover right now! It is sort of silky to the touch, and gives our bedroom a hotel look. I'm so happy that I found such a bargain! Hope this helps someone else make up their mind.Update: Nov. 2012, We've had our comforter for quite a while now, and we still love it. It's been washed tons of times and we haven't had any problems. It's like new. I like the loop things for our duvet cover that are in the corners. We mainly are too lazy to put it in the duvet cover though. One thing I want to add is that we got the king for our queen bed because I like it to hang over the sides. Plus, no playing tug-of-war with the covers at night. I highly recommend this comforter!Another update: April 2013, We still love this comforter. It's been washed a gazillion times and it still is perfect. Here I am again with another update April 2014: I'm here to buy a twin size comforter. The other ones we have are still in perfect shape after being washed a ton. I've been meaning to write that in 2012 we bought the Madison Park Quebec Coverlet Mini Set to put on top of this comforter in the winter. It also washes well and looks like a luxury set that costs a lot more. Quebec Coverlet Set Size: King

Works for me!
I bought this as a duvet insert because I was sick and tired of trying to find a regular bedspread that would (1). Coordinate with the color of my bedroom walls and (2) wouldn't be so hot and heavy that my husband would refuse to use it, resulting in it ending up at the foot of the bed and subsequently the floor. Prior to this, I've had a series of quilts and bedspreads that failed in meeting one or both of these requirements and until I bought this, we had been sleeping under a thin fleece-like blanket that failed requirement #1. I put this bedspread (and the duvet cover I ordered to go with it) on the bed on Saturday and after several nights, I can honestly say that it is wonderful. It keeps me warm at night but doesn't pin me to the mattress with its heft. I have found my husband actually curled up in it many mornings. The real test of its year-round suitability will come next summer, but for right now it seems to do the trick! I did order a King sized cover even though I have a queen sized bed because I've found that the full/queen sizes tend to lean more towards the full-sized part and it's too short on a queen sized bed for my taste.November 4, 2014: It's now been almost a year since I wrote this review and I can update on how this bedspread fared through the winter. As cold as this past winter was, I was profoundly grateful I had this on my bed. Like I said before, it was warm, but I wasn't overheated with it. However, when the tempertures started to (finally) go up, we did notice it was a little two warm for spring/summer. So, back into storage it went and out came the fleece blanket. Now that things are cooling off, I'm starting to think about getting it out again.November 12, 2018: We've now been using this comforter for 5 years and I like it just as much now as when I bought it in 2013. I bring it out in the fall, usually between Halloween and Thanksgiving, and I put it up again around mid-April. In spite of several washings, it still looks as good as it did the day I bought it. Best money I ever spent.

Very lightweight in a good way
We liked this because its not bulky or heavy. Perfect comforter for those who sleep hot. Easy to wash. I've had it for years and it's held up. This does lay flat, it's not a fluffy comforter.
