Book of Mormon Study guide: Diagrams, Doodles, & Insights

We got this for our daughter because she really doesn't like reading the scriptures on her own. This really motivates her to get in there and think about what she's reading. There have been a few times when she's had to come to us to help her think through what she's being asked to draw, but for the most part, she's been able to do the things on her own. We're pretty happy with it.

Great price n delivery. Takes you step by step through the Book of Morman. Lots of doodling in it if you like that.

I was mostly upset that this wasn't for the whole book of Mormon. I bought this as a gift for my daughter and it only covers the first few chapters in the book of Mormon, I mean sections. I'm frustrated that I'll have to buy multiple ones for the whole book. My daughter didn't seem that excited about it. I think it's a good idea and the quality was nice, but seriously upset they didn't make it. Way more clear that this is not for the whole book of Mormon, especially since it's called a book of Mormon study guide

I love this study guide more than any other study guide I have and I have several. I just finished 2nd Nephi 6 today and came on Amazon to order the next study guide because I'm so excited to start on it even though I still have a ways to go through the first one! This guide is and will be a treasure for me and I hope for my posterity. The beauty of this study guide is in the questions that it asks you. If you take the opportunity, it can engage you with the text of The Book of Mormon in a way that brings the words to life, creating a vivid picture in your mind so that the concepts can be more easily cemented in your heart and then giving you the opportunity to put those pictures and concepts down on paper in a way that is meaningful and tailored to your way of thinking. This is not the typical study guide that is the result of someone else's study, so that you don't have to. It is definitely the result though of someone who has studied it much and in this study guide you will be guided to ponder and search and learn at a level you may have not reached before. This is a guide that helps YOU study. It has helped me "see" the Book of Mormon in a way that I never have before. It has helped me internalize and conceptualize deeper than ever before. Using this guide has made studying so enjoyable, like someone else mentioned, the hours quickly slip by. Yes, hours, crazy, right? This is so, so, so much more than a plain notebook. It has been worth every penny and more.

I have had this item on my wish list for years, and I finally decided to buy it for myself for Christmas, and I'm SO glad I did! I can honestly say that it's the most fun I've ever had studying the Book of Mormon, and I'm only a few pages in. I'm finding myself really wanting to get started on the day's reading, just because I love doodling about what I'm learning.I love how this format encourages me to really think more deeply about each word and phrase used in the BoM, because I'm translating concepts in prose into drawings and outlines. I find myself picking up on things that I hadn't noticed before, and it helps me recognize patterns I hadn't seen before.As far as the book itself, it's nicely made. The pages are a little on the thin side, but I've been using Pilot G2 gel pens and there is minimal ghosting.I'm planning to buy this book for my teenagers, because I know they'll probably enjoy the process as much as I do. I only wish there were more books out there like this one for other books of scripture!

The main benefit I see from this book is that it forces you to be an active participant as you study the scriptures. All too often, it becomes easy to just passively read chapter after chapter and not really think very deeply about the specifics of what is happening or what that means for you. Before you know it, you have read the entire book cover to cover, but you have not really gained as much as you could have. This guide prompts you to stop and ponder what you are reading, then record your thoughts in the form of summaries or drawings. The prompts are generally well thought out, but they are geared toward a less experienced audience. For example, I think this would be great for a youth in seminary. However, advanced readers probably won't get as much out of it.

You could say Foster's little book is more like a workbook than a study guide, per se, but only if you wanted to be picky. I'm a middle-aged mom & I love the format of this study guide, which makes me s-l-o-o-o-w way down to dissect every chapter verse or small groupings of verses bit by bit. The included maps and diagrams help you visualize the BoM lands, the few pages that provide additional information of background material don't take over your study. I actually appreciate the pages aren't covered with tons of General Authority quotes or references to other manuals. Instead, questions are asked to get you thinking about how YOU may interpret the scriptures. There is quite enough room for you to add the extra stuff (cross references, GA quotes, references), if you want though. I can't wait to have the full set of D & C & Old & New Testaments.

First off thank you Shannon Foster! I was having a rough time feeling motivated to read the Book of Mormon and seeing this book online changed so much for me!*Readers of this review note that that there are 170 pages in this study guide and from page 117 on it is a journal with lined pages. I love this feature because it means this study guide doubles as a spiritual journal and I can correspond the page number of the journal to the page of the study guide I am working on.I have learned and thought of things using this study guide that I have never considered before although I have read the Book of Mormon many times and even served as a missionary. I love that there are also things to color because I get to use my colored pencils AND have spiritual insights! I LOVE this study guide!

I love this book, it has really helped my scripture study. The cover has a nice feel to it, although I might suggest that the spine be made stronger or to have it in hard cover as you can see which pages have been used when it's closed. I guess it's been used well!
