Sony Blu-Ray DVD Drive KEM-450DAA, Complete Replacement for PS3 Slim CECH-25XX CECH-30XX Consoles 160GB 320GB

This was a replacement to put into my Sony PlayStation 3 slim as the Blu-ray player had gone a little wonky! Works better than it has in years! I had a friend put it in for me he did a very good job of installing it and enjoyed placing it in after he watched a YouTube video on the best way to put it in I suggest if he purchases that that’s what you do! The power cord is a bit tricky and it’s better if you watch somebody else do it first. Took a little longer than I thought to get it but it was as described and works perfectly, thanks!

I powered on my PS3 the other week after not having used it in a year, because I still have games to finish. To my dismay, the blu ray player no longer would read disks..However, there is a happy ending!This replacement drive worked perfectly! I was able to find a video online and install it myself without any real trouble aside from the "security screws" on the PS3, which you can bypass with just a small flathead instead of buying the special screwdriver for it.

After installing this correctly it didn't work. After hours of analyzing the bd drive, opened it to see anything wrong and found something. I found the laser deck was missing two screws so it falls to the bottom and the laser, spin motor don't move. It makes a loud sound and that's about it. Can't recommend this unless you want to risk it since some have gotten lucky.

Aside from it not fitting in the correct pre-made holes the only other issue is it won't play 3 out of 60 my games/movies. Other than that it's a great buy. The price is very reasonable.

Seems all the drives in these old Sony systems are bound to go out at some point. Fortunately, you can still go out and buy and install the parts yourself if need be. The item in question, a drive for the newer 2nd Gen 25XXB "Slim" PS3, works just fine, but install was a bitch! It's not really any easier to install than the old slims or phats, simply because of that damn lens cable! You literally have to take the drive apart and pull that sumbitch out, put it in the slot on the console, then feed it back through the drive as you mount it in there. It really defeats the whole purpose of not having to switch the board out, like in the old Slims, etc. But I digress. Sony or any other company was probably always gonna give us the "import car" treatment, design-spec-wise, so we have to send it in to their stupid service center! I guess this is what happens when you quietly kill off an entire line of hardware, forcing consumers to jump through hoops just to keep enjoying it if they choose, which is the REAL tragedy of all of this! PS3>PS4, always, period!!!

Was surprised at how sturdy and solid this replacement is compared to the original. Install was easy and worked immediately. The 3 weeks for shipping was kind of a pain, but worth it in the end.

Perfect fit! Off and gaming again in no time. Great to be able to watch Blu-Rays again. This solution is the way to go, no need to mess with opening the drive to replace the optical laser lens. It was cheaper and more expedient to just replace the entire drive. Plenty of installation instructional videos on YouTube.

We have looked everywhere to buy a replacement that didn't cost and arm and leg. We got it home and it took us 30 minutes to fully install and get it up and running. Now we can enjoy playing games again. Packaging was very good. Brand new replacement part.
