Offer nice customization, but not the quality neither the price
I got the say the Japanese SFC color layout is my most favorite Nintendo console design. White background + Red Yellow Green & Blue, and a D-pad. So when I see this I think it's a MUST for me to grab and the DIY is quite fun for me. (First Time I am doing this kind of customization)They offered a video for how to do it, I think it is good. But I still recommend do the customization ONLY IF you really know how to do it, or its risk is very high for you not getting a decent finished product. and here I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you TRY NOT TO DISCONNECT all the connectors within the Joy-Con, especially the ribbons, it will be much easier for you to find the correct parts and reassemble them later on. and try to peel all the double sided tape and put them in the new cases. However, I felt the product is decent but not good enough, the cuts are not perfect, the screw holes in the first picture is over-sized hence cannot be fasten well enough. The buttons are printed lightly and easily my B button was disappeared. The Right Joy-Con is not perfect matched, I have to leave a little gap in order to press the "+" button (I think the cut didn't leave enough space for the conductive rubber). In conclusion, I DO NOT recommend this product for the overall quality and price (2 Shell sets can buy a Joy-Con set for this holiday), just stick with your original Nintendo Joy-Con, and do some stickers things, unless you're really a DIYer with skills and prefer appearance over quality.

Cheap prints on a $50 product
The plastic used feels pretty high quality and solid, the look reminds me of Nintendo's own "new" 3DS. Unfortunately the prints on the buttons are terribly centered making it a bit of an eye sore, and for some reason the logo on the back wasn't centered either, and the B is hard to read because of the colours. At the end of it, I still have to chase down a 1.5mm triwing screwdriver. Disappointed with the prints at this pricepoint.

Look great!!
These are awesome! It's hard work to replace these shells but it's worth it! Anyone that gives these a bad review is just because the shells are hard to change on Joycons, which is not the fault of these shells. Research how to change them first and see if you can do it or not first.

A LOT of work to install!!
The overall quality is not bad. The plastic is nice and smooth and the pieces fit together quite flush. I had no problems with the cutout sizes. The letters are not centered on the buttons but that doesn't bother me too much.Installing these is quite the undertaking. I'm quite comfortable tinkering with small electronics like this and it took me 2 hours. Good lighting, a magnifying glass, something to hold the joycon still while working on it (basically a soldering station) are recommended. The end result it worth it though! I love the look and I can easily identify my joycons when I'm at parties with multiple switch consoles. If you're going to do this mod, I recommend replacing the plastic latches with metal ones at the same time!

These are great when you put the time into modding your J-Cons
These are great when you put the time into modding your J-Cons. Unfortunately I went into it blind and didn't know they use a different kind of screw driver. A 3 way edge tip, if that makes any sense? I don't have a lot of Tools but the ones I have work on other controllers that have very small screws as well. But non of that worked on this. Also there is no Instruction manual in this product. having the J-cons being so intricate inside, I was pretty lucky I didn't damage anything. Just be very aware of where things go, and which screws go where and things should be fine.I got the sucker Working, and It's completely better in every way. Mind you I didn't have a Problems with the Slandered Button layout for the Switch's Dpad. I can Play 2D games just fine like a Normal Dpad. But For Fighting game it was like Hot Garbage. which is why I Got this Product. Now it works great for everything.

Meh
Where to start. Listen to the negative reviews, they are true. Had to modify the body of this in 3 areas to get it to sit flush... And it's still not perfect. Adds thickness and is noticeable when docking the Switch. Looks cool though. Took me maybe 30 minutes to do just the case backing as I didn't want to strip Nintendo's garage quality screws, mainly the ones on the joy con rail. Man my fix it kit just destroyed those as they were definitely over tightened from factory, no human error as I've been tinkering with electronics for 20 years. Some are tighter than others and that's just the way it goes. Overall I wouldn't buy again. But I was bored with my switch and had to do something with it.Aa a side note I have one of those transparent dockable cases. After switching this backplate, it still fits. Just not as well.

Customise your switch
Buyer beware, this isn't for everyone. Not super difficult to install but could present some challenges. Joy-cons have so many features and components that it isn't very hard to break one of the small ribbons or switches. My Right Joy-Con shell was not a 100% fit and required minor modifications to close properly. Similarly, the buttons which come with the kit are a really nice touch but the ones labelled A,B, X and Y are poorly printed and off-centre whereas the arrows are part of the moulding. Back of switch is also not the most interesting component to reveal and the kickstand doesn't hold in place. Strong possibility that I will revert to the original backing shell.

issues with fit on joycon.
As many other reviews mention one of the joycons doesn’t fit together well at all without user intervention (sanding/scraping).If you torque the two halves together tight it locks up one of your buttons. When you loosen it off you are left with a gap between the joycon halves but a working button now.Looks cool but that part is a turn off from me.

Geld verschwendet!

Works well, need patience and a bit of troubleshooting to get perfect.
Overall, very satisfied. The plastic has a nice matte feel to it that doesn't feel cheap, and the moulding is precise. In the earlier revisions one part of the right JoyCon needed to be trimmed down (there are videos on how to easily do this) but it wasn't a problem for me.The biggest thing is taking your time with the JoyCons and not to overtighten any screws. They often need to be just slightly looser than what might feel right, otherwise some buttons will be squeezed and not respond correctly. I disassembled and had to tweak this a few times to get everything just right. On that note, get high quality tri-wing and jewellery screwdrivers. The tri-wing are very prone to stripping (although phillips replacements come with the kit, so if you get them out, that's enough). The precision required for the install is a drawback if you aren't familiar with simple phone and electronics repair. The only negative I have is the Famicom coloured buttons aren't worth putting in, in my opinion. The letters are lightly printed on and will obviously wear off quickly, and were off centre. Nintendo buttons are moulded so that the letter runs all the way through the button. I kept the original buttons on.

Beautiful but not a very smooth installation
Looks beautiful! The molding of the right joycon was a bit off though and required me to shave off a little bit of plastic on the inside with am x-acto knife to get it to close properly. Without shaving that part off, my R button wouldn't work and the shell wouldn't close flush.I should've taken a picture while I still had the joycon open but since this is transparent you ought to be able to see where I shaved. In the third picture I attached look between the + and Y buttons. It's a little vertical line of plastic that I had to cut to be thinner. A small blemish but ultimately not really noticable unless you're looking for it.I decided to re-use the original buttons rather than use the colourful ones that are included. The print quality of the letters didn't seem the best (was kind of faded and off center) but I think I like the look of black buttons more anyways.Overall took a few hours to install, I definitely recommend using a tool kit with a good screwdriver and some curved tweezers!

Hope you have deft hands
Came way earlier than expected. Box comes with parts and a qr code that links to a sped-up YouTube video of a guy taking apart the joycons and putting them on new shells. You need a specialty Nintendo tri-wing screwdriver, tweezers, a very small precision Phillips screwdriver (the one sold with most Nintendo repair kits with that tri-wing screwdriver are too big) and maybe a prying tool. I bought a spare pair of joycons just for this mod because I thought there was a good chance I would screw up and break them. By no fault of the manufacturer, you do have to work with absolutely itty bitty screws, springs, cables and so on and losing anything would basically mean you've probably lost all hope of succeeding. I did this after work when I was exhausted so it took me a few hours while being fairly cautious, but it might be possible to do it much more quickly. It's a good kit that does what it says on the tin, but don't do this if you have a hard time handling absolutely tiny objects like 2mm long.

Looks great, quality however...
This product is a great way to make your switch look the way you want and offers many different options for everyone. The atomic purple looks amazing on mine and the dpad feels great. The problem however comes from the fact that the plastic feels very cheap and breakable. Mine came with the back of the right joycon all smudged with a tiny crack, the minus button had not been fully cut out so the button is a little sunken in. It would not be fair to say the difficult Instillation is the fault of the product, so this doesn’t effect my review. What I will say is it is a long and challenging process and this product is definitely not for you unless your experienced with disassembling and assembling hardware or are ready to challenge yourself at the risk of damanging your (expensive) joycons. Mine came together nicely after everything, but the imperfections will always bother me, and I will now be worried about my switch cracking if I drop it as the plastic feels super breakable. TLDR It is comfortable and looks great, but feels cheap and has imperfections. Difficult to install, worth it if yours looks good enough and for the dpad.

Cheap overpriced plastic
I have no clue how this is worth 50$. It's not well made, the plastic was chipped on edges and needed to be trimmed from the mould. For 50$ that should include installation because it's that cheap. Save your money. The plastic was also a lighter colour
