Best Book on This Subject I've Found!
This is the definitive book on single-handed Spey Casting. It's well-written and nicely illustrated. I also recommend his Spey Casting (2nd edition), and his DVD, Rio's Modern Spey Casting, which has a section on single-hand Spey Casting, as well as extensive instruction on all the Spey casts: Roll Cast, Switch Cast, Single Spey, Double Spey, Snake Roll, Snap T, Skagit casting,Overhead Cast, Spey casting in salt water. No one knows more about Spey casting than Simon Gawesworth. Single-handed Spey Casting will open up a whole new world of fly-fishing opportunity for anyone who masters its techniques. I can't recommend it highly enough.

An Excellent Single Handed Spey Casting Tutorial
Simon Gawesworth is an excellent fly casting instructor and fly line designer for Rio Products. As in his video instruction I've seen, his instruction in this book covers all the basis of the single handed Spey cast. Even if you are a novice fly fisher and are wanting to understand a little more how Spey casting can help, this is the book to read. Most of my fishing on the east coast is done on rivers where there is a lot of obstruction from behind making the normal back cast very difficult to achieve without catching a hook in a tree or bush. In these type of situations, this is where the single handed Spey casting will be beneficial. I would recommend this book for all fly fishers to have in their library.

Terrific Book!!
I got this book to see if it might provide useful info for fishing the bigger rivers in the PNW for steelhead with my normal fly rod; ones where a normal spey might be too long or not suitable. Did that and more. This is a substantial book and it was enjoyable to read. Easy to understand. Lots of fine pics and good hints. I have it on my mantle and like to pick it up just to browseWill be "hunting" steelies, both winter and summer run using many of the suggestions.

Probably the best book on fly casting
This is an amazing book on fly casting. It's the best book to build skills and techniques that blend Spey casts with more traditional fly casting, which is a powerfully useful (and fun!) approach to fishing. But, I believe it's probably the best book on fly casting there is - and I have several. Simon is a true master and it shows. He's excellent at explaining the casts and the accompanying photos are top-notch. The book is well organized from basic to advanced casts and everything in between. If you only choose to buy one book on fly casting, make it this one. At the same time, if you're interested in some other winners check out Henrik Mortensen's "Fly Casting Scandinavian Style" and Lefty Kreh's "Casting with Lefty Kreh" as they're both excellent.

not a kindle book
This is a good book, but impossible to read in kindle format. The pictures and accompaning text are too small to read and take in. Worth reading, but get it in book form, so you can easily flick forward and back to get the casting techniques in view

Single-Handed Spey Casting
I have been flyfishing since I was 7 yrs. old. I'm now 76. Simon Gawesworth's Single-Spey Casting is the best text on flyfishing EVER!! I was curious about spey casting but not interested in the two-handed rods because most of my fishing is sight fishing requiring precise presentation.Simon's text targeted the significant problem of obstructions limiting control of the single- handed backcast. In one week I learned the switch cast, the spey and the double spey in my back yard. The next week I traveled to Labrador for Brook Trout.Without these newly learned tools I would have spent half of my time in the alders. Also, its a good show-off tool for fellow flyfishers.

Excellent
Excellent book. Covers all the key Spey techniques for single handed fishing in a really easy to understand format. The step by step photos and instructions are spot on.I started fly fishing three years ago and whilst my overhead casting is fine I have struggled with my roll casting and fishing within tight spots on rivers. This book has really helped my improve.

Great instructional book.
Very well writen book. Explains all you need to know about single han spey casting before getting out on your own to give it a try and practice. Pictures and illustrations show the different stages of the casts and help understanding tremendously. There is a lot extra, other than spey casts, such as roll casts, hauls, mends. Stuff I already knew, but a bonus. Great book if you want to understand or learn spey casting without buying a two handed rod.
