Wet Bum

Five stars acting; three stars story.
Julia Sarah Stone plays a 14 year old girl who does housecleaning in a nursing home business supervised by her mother. She is also taking advanced swimming lessons for future work as a lifeguard. Her peers at the pool are mean girls who pick on her due to her small stature and scrawny development. The story reaches somewhat in overplaying a cranky old man at the nursing home and a swimming instructor going way out of bounds with his crush on this sweet kid. An unlikely intervention may have saved him from jail. Julia Sarah Stone is sexy and emotionally engaging in all of her films. Now that she is in her 20s, I look forward to more of her work in an adult role.

One of the best coming of age films I've seen
Lindsay McKay's "Wet Bum" is a remarkable achievement on every conceivable level. It explores the awkwardness and uncertainty of adolescence with arresting authenticity, while providing an unflinching portrait of life in a nursing home. The young heroine is caught between these two worlds, and she is played by Julia Sarah Stone in an extraordinary performance. MacKay's direction is masterfully nuanced and solidifies her status as a filmmaker of major promise.

My daughter's started watching this an then shut it off after they saw someone "flip the bird". I'm not sure why this was listed in the family section.
