Nice but could be better
I purchased this hood fan in December and installed it last weekend. In general I am happy with it but few things could have been better. The lights are too white and not bright enough. Warm tone would have been nice and match our kitchen lights. The emblem 'XtremeAir' was installed in a hurry and is crooked. Looks bad on the front of the unit. The baffles don't feel secure. The oil tray should be removable for easy clean up. Stainless steel is 19 gauge which is not as nice as the commercial 18 gauge. The fans are quiet and move lots of air. Our family room no longer smells like a kitchen with this new hood fan. We removed the existing 6 inch exhaust and replaced with 8 inch duct all the way to the outside. This process took the most time. We used an 8in Air King wall cap with 8in elbow & 8in take off start collar to complete the duct. I chose the square corners (UL11-U30) but now I think the rounded corners (UL10-U30) maybe a little nicer. This unit is all manual and has no sensor which is a good thing in my opinion. Sensors will go bad sooner or later.UPDATE: The issue with the baffle filters not being secure has been addressed. The problem was due to the oil channel being moved during transit and I didn't know to reinsert it properly. After that issue is fixed the filters sit securely. This issue was fixed thanks to XtremeAir Tech Support which is outstanding. They were so easy to communicate with and were on top of things, even sent me some videos to explain how to install the filters & oil channel.

Then I came across this on Amazon with 7 excellent reviews. The reviews seemed to fit my criteria
I searched and read quite a few reviews on different range hood models. Then I came across this on Amazon with 7 excellent reviews. The reviews seemed to fit my criteria.- LOTS of air suction power- Somewhat quiet- Simple design- Quality constructionPros:- Great delivery time! (Free)- Great packaging- Lots of air moving power in high speed- In high speed, the sound is much more tolerable than my old $30+ 2 speed range hood fan.- Excellent overall construction!- Extremely satisfied – In high speed, it passed my wife’s Asian spicy curry cooking test.Cons: None! Well done XtremeAIR.Notes:In high speed, it sucked lots of air ~900 CMF with proper installation. My house was built in 2005 with existing 6” fresh air line down in the utility room. It wasn’t enough – or worked fast enough. In high speed, when I opened the front door, I felt the door pushed or sucked inward. This told me I needed to add more fresh air supply or makeup air to the same level as the kitchen. I added another 6” fresh air supply line in the kitchen hidden behind the cabinets with an automatic damper (Oh yeah, some designing had to be done). You might want to read about negative pressure or back drafting potential issues before installing a vent hood that could draw this much air out of the house.

Excellent hood
I installed this hood about a year ago. This hood is excellent. I was reluctant to purchase it since I'm not familiar with the brand. Reasons why I like the hood:- It's very well constructed- I like the filters since they are sturdy stainless steel and can be washed indefinitely without wearing out- The dual squirrel cage fans draw a lot of air- The sound is reasonable (it does get louder on the higher settings but we normally keep it on low since it works so well. It's not that the fan is unduly loud, all fans get noisy when moving that much air)- I like the simple buttons. We opted against the more expensive model with the remote control. Glad we did.- Looks great.Though I'm not so consistent at writing reviews, I thought I would for this product seeing it had fewer reviews. I've found myself trying to figure out if I should order a product. I can tell you as a current product owner that I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again.About installation, I found it a bit tricky particularly for the screws that mount through the top. Hard to get screws up there but I was able to. Just be careful with the corners. I gave myself a nice cut when I had the stove pulled out and I stood up quickly (hit the corner with my head).

Pretty hood so far
So far not too impressed with the quality. Took out of the box noticed the right light is loose and one of the filters has deep scratches. Try to tighten the light socket but the screw was already stripped. I also noticed the protective film for the hood is missing. Must be removed by someone. I will install the hood this weekend and hopefully everything will work.Update: Finally got this thing installed! Everything is working good so far. The suction on this hood is very good!I’m happy with it.Update 2: After using the hood for almost a year, this hood is still working great and the LED lights are still working. I would honest will buy it again if I ever need to. The hood is little loud due to dual powerful motors which I really like.

Well built hood but read further.
Beautiful hood. Seems well built, time will tell. Good suction for general kitchen cooking, far superior to above range microwave/vent combos. May be barely sufficient if you do heavy frying or stir fry. If your duct work is 7" or 8" and straight up to roof without bends, than that would be ideal. Keep in mind the 3 stainless steel filters will diminish the suction a bit also, but they do an important job. My only complaint so far is the power cord is too close to the upper right keyed mounting hole. After drilling a hole in cabinet big enough for the cord to come through, I'm left without enough wood to grip the screw because it's way too close. There's another fixed hole way in back but that falls right into the end grain of the cabinet so that is a weak grip. I end up not able to secure the upper left, so I made sure the back of the hood is secured to studs with two #12 stainless screws. I still like the hood so it's still a 5 star for now. Sorry for the lengthy comment.
