Detailed Mechanical Design: A Practical Guide

This book is a useful read for mechanical design engineers because it defines principles typically learned from years of practical experience, such as the principles of exact constraint and self-help. The book would be especially useful to very new engineers.Since the depth of content is limited, I think the price should be lower.

The great thing about this book is that it contains many little helpful tips about how to make parts of your designs better. Although not a text that teaches you a lot of theory and problems, it has a strong base of examples and from those it allows you to see many different situations in which small details can be improved, and lead to huge differences. For any practical designer I would highly recommend it. The only downfall is that it's small, and when I bought it, expensive.
