Samsonite Leather Flapover Briefcase

I returned the item do to its boxed shape and squeaky handle. I have owned previous Samsonite bags and this still looks sharp. I could not get over how it reminds me of an alphabetical accordion file I own. Quality is good and leather looks great. I would not buy this if you do not want a box shaped bag.

I had ordered this on a two day shipping from amazon prime. I was expected to receive this in two days, it never reached me. Then after waiting a day or two I give the amazon customer service a call. Their entire service is lousy and they just like to say it wasn't their fault, they give me different answers and leave their customers in the dark on their services. I was supposed to use this on a travel, anticipating that this product would serve me good, but I was totally wrong amazon hasn't figured out an ideal shipping model yet. The entire process was a just a waste of my money and frustrating. Don't count on amazon to get your shipments on time, I had once tried to ship a friend a birthday gift, it reached late, quite very late. This is unacceptable.

Got this briefcase 1 year ago. Did some immediate travel for business and noticed that the bottom corners were starting to wear. The leather is composite, which you can see because the veneered corners have worn down. To be clear, I have not put this briefcase through any sort of undue stress. It's been in the following places: a car, under an airplane seat, and next to my desk.I would like to give this product the benefit of the doubt, because of the other positive reviews, but I don't think Samsonite should be using composite leather.Some pros: It looks quite sharp and I've been complemented on it many times. Also, it's affordable.Additional con: It's not too roomy. If you put more than a couple folders inside the bag you will not be able to shut it.

I received it from Amazon today. I bought it with some reservations given some of the less than positive reviews. But the price is good, and heck if it wasn't posted on Macy's for the full $280, then on "sale" for $133.99, now $118.99 online.It looks better in person than in the pictures. I haven't had it in the sun yet (no sun today), but it seems not to betray any overt cheapness. No accounting for quality control--It ain't made in the 1st World for these prices, so caveats with anything you buy online. (I haven't found the "Made by Communist Chinese Forced Labor" tag yet, but I'm sure I will find something like it after a while.)But it looks pretty sharp. It also fits a 2" 3-ring binder easily, which I hoped it would. For bigger or multiple stuff, I've got a well-used rolling bag, which this bag easily slides onto. It even fits my 17.3" laptop--barely. It fit easily, but bulges. That may be why the "official" descriptions (both here and on the Samsonite sites) are a bit coy about the laptop size it would take. There's even a working key for the latch, although I wouldn't recommend it for securing Kim Jong Un's nuclear launch codes.As for the "can't wear cross-shoulder" criticism, that's fair. As a 46 Regular guy, it is a bit awkward-looking over the neck but it seems comfortable enough. If you're concerned about appearances, which many leather buyers are, keep it on one shoulder in the safety of the building, and cross it over for the walking/bus/train/parking lot outside.We'll see how it wears. If it falls apart, I'll try to update.

Just received, unpacked, and quickly loaded...VERY NICE!! (Bravo to the packing/shipping department who delivered this within a day of ordering. )- Combination Briefcase/Laptop Carrier, has both a substantial/wide strap and a carrying handle!- The leather construction and silver accents make for a quality-looking bag.- The boxy shape and classic design works well for men and women.- Adjustable "belt buckle" strap. (At it's shortest setting, the top of the bag comes to my waist and is very comfortable. At 5'3", I don't feel overwhelmed when I carry the bag.)Regarding storage, I put my wallet and keys in the middle zippered pocket and put a few file folders and a planner in the other dividers. The padded laptop section is big for my MacBook Air (in a Speck case) but that gave me room for my Kindle in it's case. The section's padding isn't too thick and could be used instead to carry more paperwork or personal items. The front panel organizer is typical of most briefcases with small pockets for pens, etc. The back has an outside zippered pocket, as well as an open "pocket" to piggyback onto your luggage handle.First impressions, I'm very happy with my purchase!!

Item just arrived, fast delivery, just in time for Fathers Day! Great looking bag BUT I am disappointed that it was made in China! Ads says, "Made in USA". Amazon should be more truthful of every word on item descriptions. Still contemplating whether to keep this item or return it..

I purchased this item in December 2012. The briefcase was used very lightly for the last 5 months. Over the last week, I noticed the latch wasn't closing properly. Today, the latch came off. Since the return window of opportunity has elapsed, I loose my money, and now have to buy another one.
