What was sent was not what I ordered, but what I got looked very usable
It was returned simply because I couldn't be certain of the specs. Prob'ly just a mix up in the shipping or something, but it looked like it would do the job if I had the job for it. Quality looked fine

Automate an electric damper to a multi speed fan (downdraft cooktop for example)
Beware: The product photo is incorrect. The part number is correct, but the amazon photo shows one with an LED and adjustable trigger and extra connectors for power.Take an extension cord, cut off the end and run one of the wires (hot or neutral, not the ground) through the hole in the transformer. If your fan (or load) is less than an amp, you can wind the cord through the hole two or three times. Then attach a new plug on the end of the extension cord.Anything plugged into this extension cord will activate the electronic switch when it starts drawing power. For my application, I had a three speed KitchenAid downdraft cook-top fan that plugged into an outlet. I plugged it into the extension cord instead, and ran 24 volts AC from a door bell transformer, through the switch to power a duct damper. This way I have no winter drafts as the duct is sealed unless the fan is on. Check Amazon for Hoyme dampers if you want to quality duct damper with a 24 volt AC motor.
