LED Digital Scrolling Message Name Tag ID Badge

I purchased this as a way to display simple funny greetings for visitors showing up at my exterior front door (made of metal). It is difficult to program, but I'm a geek who appreciates a challenge. It can take hours with the vague instructions provided. Eventually I got 4-6 generic greetings texted-in and saved, so it can be done after a bit of frustration. When not in use I store the unit indoors.Pros: the text phrases stay programmed after a battery change-out. The magnets are very strong and worked well for placement on my front door exterior. With a better battery and lower dim settings the rolling text lasted for more than 8 hours.Cons: When the unit is jostled for some reason it seems to switch on by itself draining the battery while stored. Could have been the cheap battery provided with the unit though. Once replaced with a name battery the auto-on problem seemingly goes away. It can be limped along by storing the unit without the battery when not in use. It's too cheap to send back, or get a refund, but seems to be working just OK at this point. It'll be a throw away if the problem returns.Some of the other units offered here come with a CD mini-disk that contains an easier programming app, but it does not work on Apple MacOSX system and nobody makes computers that takes mini-CD's these days. If you can get it loaded up I've also heard complaints that the app doesn't seem to work on newer PC operating systems. I would have gladly paid more for a higher quality product that I could quickly program with Mac, but I can't seem to find it.Update: After using this approximately 15 times it gave up the ghost and died. Will not turn on even with a new battery. Great idea that would work in my situation, but woefully executed. Would gladly pay more if this gadget actually worked and was easier to program. Still looking for a item that can deliver.

I bought 20 of these for a programme. I was happy when the box arrived 24hrs to the event only to realize that it doesn't ship with the Computer cable and software. And it wasnt even there as an option.In the end, I couldn't programme them for the event.I got 5 from Hong Kong a while back, it came with IR transmitter and software.

I wanted to like this product. However, the instructions were written by someone who does not understand the English language and were incomprehensible. It wasn't easy to program even when I finally made sense of the directions. The final straw was that it quit working entirely after a very short time. A new battery was of no use. I'd suggest finding a more reliable product.

This item is pretty good. It's bright, easy to use (mostly) the only thing i havent figured out yet is how to store different messages. If i find it out i will change my rating to 5 stars

difficult to program messages...

Easy to program and includes more symbols than a previous version I owned. Hard to open battery slot only complaint.

I highly recommend this name tag to anyone who either:1. Has multiple nicknames2. Just wants to put random messages for laughs on this.It was easy to program, works for hours on end, and comes with 2 batteries, just in case if the first isn't good enough.
