Balances Protection, Comfort, Affordability, Mobility
I work as an aircraft mechanic in a high-operations tempo environment... meaning I do a lot of running around, a lot of tumbling around, and get a lot of jets fixed to do a lot of flying. I've used numerous other forms of hearing protection: Peltor Shotgunners, Peltor H10 Optime, Bilsom Thunder, from what I can recall.I'll go over the various qualities of this product:-Slim designNot quite as slim as the Shotgunners, but definitely not as obstructive as the H10 Optime or Bilsom Thunder. For my line of work this is very nice, as we often work in tight spaces in or around the jets. Also, when running/tumbling around they aren't as prone to wriggle off your head.-ComfortThese offer a decent amount of comfort. They only started to get painful to wear after about three hours. They don't get to being uncomfortable/annoying until about an hour. The H10 Optime and Thunder has slightly more padding, but because they are bigger and heavier it makes them less comfortable overall to wear and gets irritating to wear very quickly... a general consensus among my workmates who vary by height, build, headshapes, earshapes etc. The Shotgunners have minimal padding... which is a key part of their slim design. Needless to say they aren't very comfortable either.-AffordableLess pricey compared to the Shotgunners, H10 Optime or Thunder. Yet this doesn't sacrifice much (if at all) in build quality or protection.-ProtectionThese offer slightly more protection than the Shotgunners, but not as much as the H10 Optime or Thunder. The difference is noticeable, but for an industrial area where jet engines reach over 100 dB, the protection is good. For this type of environment the Shotgunners provide an acceptable amount of protection.-RuggedI typically see Shotgunners last 6-12 months (they're not meant for this type of work environment anyway). The H10 Optime and Thunder are fairly rugged, but I think they last as long as they do because most of my people try not to wear them unless they really need to. My H6 Optime has lasted me four years, and was a hand-me-down. While they aren't meant to be tossed about or otherwise abused, I'm pleasantly surprised they lasted in my work environment. For folks who work as car mechanics, in woodshops, or otherwise low-operations tempo environments (where you aren't running around like a madman trying to get things done) these will last you at least twice as long.

Quiet Muffs for the Classroom
I bought several pair of these to use in my classroom for students who like it quiet when they read or work. I wish I could buy enough for every student, because everyone wants to use them. They are not too big or too tight. These are the perfect "quiet headphones" for the classroom. I have been using them for years, and not one pair has broken. The ear cups have no holes or tears, and they get used daily. These last, and therefore are an excellent value if you are buying your own classroom supplies.

Needed a smaller head set
This works quite well for the price. I needed a smaller head set to use with my face shield, dust mask. A lot to fit in a small space.

PERFECT if you NEED QUIET to study, work, sleep, meditate, and so on...
The 3M Peltor earmuffs are great for studying! I purchased these before I started graduate school because I am the type of person who concentrates best when it is silent or at least very quiet. In the past, I tried listening to music on my headphones when studying in a noisy environment, but that only distracted me more. These noise reduction earmuffs were inexpensive, yet they have been extremely useful in helping me tune out extraneous noise. Here is my product evaluation of the 3M Peltor Noise Reduction Earmuffs:*PROS*NOISE REDUCTION: These earmuffs drown out enough noise so that I can hear myself think even if I am studying in a noisy place. These earmuffs are not completely noise canceling, but they do effectively muffle medium loud sounds, such as a conversation happening a right next to you, and very loud sounds, such as a blaring police siren outside your window. These earmuffs are excellent at completely eliminating soft background noise, such as the hum of a refrigerator or a conversation happening in the next room.COMFORT: I find these earmuffs very comfortable. The two earpieces are cushioned and fit around my ears without bending them. The width of the earmuffs is adjustable and so can be worn tightly or loosely, as you prefer. They are also very lightweight.MANY PRACTICAL USES: Apart from studying, these earmuffs are great for the following additional uses: (1) to help you concentrate in a chaotic office environment; (2) to help you sleep even when the neighbor's dog won't stop barking; (3) to help you meditate and achieve a Zen state; and more.*CONS*BULKY: There is an image of these earmuffs folded compactly on Amazon, but these earmuffs do not easily fold. Therefore, I keep them extended, and they take up more space in my purse than I anticipated they would.3M LOGO ON EAR PIECES: Some images show plain ivory earpieces with "Peltor" printed in black, but the earmuffs you receive when placing this order are ivory with red and black text that reads "3M Optime 95" (See attached photo). I would have preferred the more plain earpiece design so that the earmuffs resembled regular music headphones rather than so obviously called to mind construction worker/air traffic controller equipment, which affords you some funny looks in a school/office setting.

Just what I was looking for
These fit great, are comfortable and work very well. I got them for my noisy kitchen blender! (Also learned to set the blender on a folded towel) Anyway, I have already damaged ears from loud music when I was a kid and now I guess they are more sensitive due to damage, and are uncomfortably sensitive to loud sounds now. These are also used for vacuuming, especially the car. And for the leaf blower in garage, etc. Wish I had learned earlier to protect my ears.

Comfortable hearing protection in my woodshop
These are my go-to hearing protection in my wood shop. I don;t want noise cancelling and definitely do not want sound producing headphones (music, etc..). I need to be able to hear my equipment to know how its behaving, but I need the damaging sounds eliminated. These ear muffs are perfect for that. The keep sounds within a healthy range, allow hearing equipment as it runs, and are comfortable enough to wear for hours at a time. Highly recommended.
