Gibson Gear Vintage Reissue Guitar Restoration Kit

It was time to change the strings on my Gibson. A Les Paul Studio 50's Tribute with P-90s and asatin finish. I also wanted to take the time to treat the fret board and clean the neck and body.Enter the product as mentioned in the title. The kit comes with a Low Abrasion Metal Cleaner,Premium Fretboard Conditioner, Cream Guitar Polish, 2 Gibson Polish Cloths and a Metal CleanerApplication Brush. This is housed in a resealable plastic container.I've had the Studio since 2010 and it was definitely time for a cleaning and to attempt a polishing.I play almost daily but am not a professional so the road did not wear on this guitar. The neck isrosewood and the neck and body have a nitrocellulose satin finish with a 30-sheen lacquer. It isessentially a thinner finish and has a semi-dull or "satin" sheen.After taking off the strings and securing the tail-piece I opened the Premium Fretboard Conditioner.It smells like lemon oil, not real strong, but the scent is obvious. After cleaning my fretboard witha toothpick and/or a credit card along the frets to remove any built up dirt I then applied the'Conditioner' with a clean soft cotton cloth.It does not take much to do one fretboard and the rosewood soaked it up nicely. I wiped off anyexcess ready to move onto the next job. This 2 fluid ounce bottle will last me a while even afterI move on to the other 3 guitars I own. It is recommended by luthiers and Gibson to oil yourrosewood and ebony fretboard about 1-2 times a year dependent upon the type of environmentit is stored. Now on to the body work.I tried The Restorative Finish Cream on the back of the body first to see if the result was what Iwanted. After working one area then another I came to the conclusion that this is one heck of afinish cream. I don't know if I can't remember what the finish looked like 3 years ago or if it reallyneeded some good lovin' from this cream.Once the back was done, and looked wonderful, I went on to the sides and then the top. Wow. Itput a nice shine on the body and neck and did not feel greasy. It certainly gave it more of a shiniersatin than before. This 'Restorative Finish Cream' did just that. Restored my finish and made itlook real good. Did I say, "wow"?The kit also comes with a Low Abrasion Metal Cleaner of which I did not need to use. My body'schemistry is fairly kind to metal and there was no need to use it as of yet. The 2 Polish cloths arejust like the ones you can buy separately. I like to keep one in each of my guitar cases to wipe theneck after playing.This product will get 5 stars because it exceeded my expectations and did so without any problems.I can see the 'Finish Cream running out before the 'Fretboard Conditioner' but not an issue for me. Ifyou own any Gibson Guitars with a nitrocellulose finish this kit will be kind to your instrument and makeit look dynamite.

These products are awesome! I recently used them to restore the look of my 2001 Les Paul. The finish cream works best if you rub it in, then let it dry and buff it with a clean cloth. The fret board conditioner was amazing and has a very pleasant lemon smell! The metal cleaner was the hardest to use, however, I was working against some severe corrosion. I wound up have to supplement chrome polish to get the hard ware mostly clean and then use this product to get the final shine. My only disappointment was with the rags. The cotton leaves lent everywhere. When you are trying to get that perfect look on your guitar the amount of lent is really frustrating. I would recommend having a clean soft microfiber cloth for the final polish and shine.

Great quality. The stuff I bought at guitar center didn't appear to do anything. Whereas, these Gibson liquids and cloths actually work. The nickel plated parts of my guitar look new now thanks to the real metal cleaner/polisher. The finish on my guitar looks beautiful now thanks to the excellent finish restorer. My fretboard and bridge look and feel exquisite after being conditioned with the lemon oil. 2 cleaning/polishing cloths are included. This kit is the best I've ever used. Don't waste your money on the 'One' (which does nothing) or the Dunlop kit (which is fairly good in its own right. Just not as good as this Gibson kit). Just get this--it's the best.

This is a simple reivew. If you want to take care of a fine instrument, I don't guess you can go wrong using Gibson made stuff. I have a Les Paul, and recently used this kit on it. Nice and shiny, with a slicker neck - ahhhhhhhh... Ok, the neck played slicker for a few days but wore off - wish that would've lasted a bit longer. Overall, this product did a good job cleaning the guitar and didn't leave any residue and didn't discolor my finish (or remove any paint). Just follow the instructions and your set. I'll probably use this each time I re-string (or ever other time).

I was basically happy with the kit, I had some minor corrosion on a pickup and the metal polish definitely helped but did not remove it which I thought it should. The other items worked very well and left me with a beautiful shine and clean neck. If damage is real serious I don' t think this will do the trick.

Great kit to keep my Gibson SG clean and shining. The kit comes with a Low Abrasion Metal Cleaner, a Premium Fretboard Conditioner, a Cream Guitar Polish, 2 Gibson Polish Cloths and a Metal Cleaner Application Brush. I must say that I never really used the Metal Cleaner Application Brush because I generally remove the strings to clean my guitar, therefore I can easily reach any small part without it.

My guitars look and play amazing now. I was surprised to find out clean and smooth guitars are easier to play! I have always wiped my guitars with micro dust fabric before playing, but the oil makes a HUGE difference. The two cloths that come with kit are nice. I use one for application and one for final wipe down.
