Simplified Pattern-Making of Ladies' Pants Paperback – September 18, 2014

I would recommend this book to anyone looking to create their own clothes, anyone tired of putting in the effort of store-bought patterns only to have the sizing off and the product not wearable.I have drafted pleated shorts and slide pocket pants and now have wearable items. My first pair was a success and my third would be even better. I’m excited to continue and elevate my learning experiences for more creativity.Onward.

I purchased this book as a gift for my spouse and she provided the review below:I have been making my pants with the use of commercial patterns, however, I always have to do some alterations eventually. I am grateful that I ordered the pattern-making book of Chic R. Francisco ---Simplified Pattern-Making of Ladies’ Pants. The book is easy to follow and understand (what with detailed illustrations on how the curve ruler is to be used in plotting the pants pattern), enabling me to come up with a well-fitted pair of pants. I was prepared to make some alterations, but to my surprise, none were needed. The author’s instructions on how to measure, what to measure, and the pattern drafting method all seem to have been precise. When my aunt learned I had made the pants from scratch, she was so awed by its fit and fall that she asked me to make one for her. I was quite hesitant because she has a fairly large figure, but to my pleasant surprise, her pants were a perfect fit! Admittedly, earlier, I had let my aunt wear the pants folded and pinned at the hem. Now, she is asking me to make another pair for her; this time she is willing to pay for it! My heartfelt thanks to Ms. Francisco!

I just kinda of gazed thru it when I first got it but I went thru it again and was extremely impressed like it shows you everything you need for a good fitting pair of pants it’s good for beginning and experienced pattern makers bc it explains everything extremely well and it makes a lot of sense I got this book to get a good idea of pant making and have something that focuses only on that and I love this so much 1000000% recommend

To complicated.

I didn't like the feel of the cover of the book feels waxy so I covered it with clear tape , but the content is worth it great book, love the YouTube videos of shirt pattern making that's why I bought the book.

I just received the book today so haven't had a chance to draft out any pants. I flipped through it though and can already tell by what I saw that it is a good drafting book. I have other drafting books as I have taken several semesters of pattern drafting at the college level. This book is easy to read and comprehend which is a must with regard to pattern drafting books. Can't wait to give it a try.

This is an interesting way to try to make a pattern fit properly. It is a little complicated but with patience it works pretty well. I wasn't happy with my final muslin using this method but will try again. It may just be me.

I'm currently doing my first pair of pants, and so far it's very understandable and easy to follow. My recommendation, eyeball it ALL first before starting, don't cut the pattern until you're done (I did it and I had to repeat some steps), don't be disappointed if pants don't look as you expected it the first time, practice makes perfect!
