WAX Carving PEN Super Max Instant 850F Tool

Works just as intended, but for those who may err as I did, bear in mind this is the larger/longer MaxWax pen and so gets SUPER RIDICULOUSLY HOT. A must-know before you put that tip to wax.

Works perfectly to cut and seal nylon cord for shamballa bracelets. Glows red-hot immediately and tip is fine for precise work. Protective cover prevents tool from rolling off work area.

I used it to make the wax models for my school spirit paperweights as seen on Facebook. I bought silicone molds designed for casting chocolate letters of the alphabet, made wax letters instead, and stuck them to a round candle. Using the Lost wax technique, I made personalized solid aluminum paperweights. I was previously heating metal utensils over a candle flame to try to stick everything together. To heck with that, this was the thing I needed.

I would give it zero stars if I could. The relatively expensive wire tips burn out quickly and repeatedly. I’ve had the original tip and 4 extra tips burn up in less than an hour of use. I put the last tip in the unit and held the power button on to see how long it would last before burning itself up, and it fried itself in about 20 seconds without ever touching anything. The tool does include a warning that it may overheat if on for more than 2 seconds, so if you can get your work done it less time than that maybe give it a try.

This thing is great. I have noticed that batteries tend to get pretty hot if you use it for too long, and it eats through them quickly. But it does the job and is frankly pretty fun to use. It's currently one of my favorite tools.

I am picking up to make some Chinese Knotting and Kumihimo braiding. This is the tool that a blog author that I respect much recommended based on her experience with various tools for finishing up the thread ends. I found it very easy to use, very convenience. I especially appreciate the cap that keeps the head from turning on accidentally, great safety feature. I got my money worth for this purchase.

i am going to give this a 5 star despite that fact that i personally have not used it yet as my wax casting class is currently on break. BUT i can tell you that once one person in the class ordered this and used it, everyone else in the class as ordered it. it is suppose to be much easier to use. so am excited to really get to use it
