Stop Motion Animation Genius Ray Harryhausen's first Film To feature The legendary sailor of The seven seas. as The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad Takes our hero on a quest To The forgotten island of Colossa in an attempt to break a spell Thrust on his beloved princess by an evil magician. as you can expect once landing on The island our hero and his crew face an assortment of mythical creatures all conjured up by The Talents of Ray Harryhausen. so memorable with film fans alike is The attack on The beach by The Giant cyclops at The beginning of The movie The scene as since gone down as one of cinema's Greatest movie scenes. cutting a dash as Sinbad Kerwin Mathews bring charm, wit, and a good amount of swashbuckling To The character Torin Thatcher does a splendid job as The evil magician who never really quite lived This down as he found himself Typecast as a villain for The rest of his career in movies and TV. for me The added attraction of The lovely pint sized Kathryn Grant as The beautiful princess of our story is The icing on The cake for This movie. I say pint sized as she is shrunk To microscopic size by The magician for most part of The movie Though an actress herself small in stature she would later go on To marry Hollywood crooner Bing Crosby. A landmark movie for Ray Harryhausen it was his first movie To be filmed in Glorious color and The first for him To feature Sinbad which paved The way for his later fantasy epics. The movie olso introduced The classic swordfight with a living skeleton so symbolic in Ray's later movies most notable in Jason & The Argonauts. The 7th Voyage arrives in a pristine Blu-ray Transfer just look at The cyclops on The beach scene and The vivid colors how they shine. a wealth of extras nothing new if you owned The DVD of This but still impressive. a look back on The making of The movie featurette further documentaries as we remember The 7th Voyage even a music video set To breathtaking stills of The movie and a look back at Ray's earlier movies and finally The films Trailer. for The price This is really an exceptional Blu-ray release of This movie classic. Delivery went To The wire for me but truly worth The wait. now I can journey on The Voyage along with Sinbad anytime I choose.

I purchased this despite the fact that I already owned the American Bluray released years ago. I couldn't tell whether the picture quality was better than the American bluray but extras appear the same. I will say that the menus are more slick on this Region B release than the American version. I think the sound has been remastered in Dolby TruHD to a lessor or greater extant. I think there may be an improvement in sound. All in all, if you have the American version (which is region free) there may not be a need to upgrade to this. Still a great, classic movie - one of Ray Harryhausen's best.
