Evenflo Barn Door Walk-Thru Gate (Farmhouse Collection)

This is by far the best looking and effective baby/dog gate I have ever owned.We moved 3 years ago, I had the perfect place for this gate before we even moved. I have had it in-service for 3 years now and it has endured several “break thru”crashes by the dogs if the tension gets loose. I’ve gotten good-I can have that thing back up and in place in about a minute.I wish I had bought 2-they seem to be out of stock

This doggie gate is made of good material we've had it for a while now and it fits the space that you can see in the picture. It's easy to put together and easy to install in the space that you want it. it's good for keeping the babies in place and also for us keeping the dogs in their space.

This is great door and nice looking.

I wanted a nice gate for my dogs to prevent one of them from going onto my carpeted stairs, as that one darn dog tends to pee on carpet. I had been using a cheaper one and sliding it across the floor, but I saw it caused a lot of damage to the floor and a paint chip on the wall.Found this and it’s pretty, but I have baseboards and I didn’t want to drill into them (because the gate wouldn’t be flush against the baseboard) nor did I want the hassle of stepping over the gate and causing a tripping hazard, especially at the top of stairs. Since I installed it by myself, I used yoga blocks, some cardboard and a leveler to get it the perfect height as the top of the stairs and a 90 degree so it wouldn’t open at an angle and then drilled into the wall. While another review showed it holding on its own above the baseboard, it’s kind of heavy and I don’t trust it even though I drilled partly into studs. The door is heavy and with how often it’s probably going to be used, I wouldn’t install it by itself without some support on the bottom. I have mounting brackets that I’ll install later, but the yoga blocks give me peace of mind until I do.It doesn’t hold open on its own and you really have to pull up to get it to unlatch. It doesn’t completely close both top and bottom latches all the time and if it swings too hard, it actually just swings through instead of locking, but my dogs are scared of it so it’s fine but perhaps for a baby or toddler, I would have to double check everytime. It’s otherwise pretty and does the job. If I weren’t concerned about looks though, I would have opted for a cheaper, lighter gate instead.

Absolutely love this gate! It looks incredible, and I was able to install it with ease in an awkward sliding door doorway to block access to my basement!I have a fearless 1 year old that likes to get into everything, and as much as he hammers on it - it stays sturdy. I've only had to tighten the sides once or twice over the last few months, and that's just because I'm nervous about it blocking the stairs.Our 5 year old is able to get through it with ease, since it's just a simple slide back latch and lift to get through. It swings both in and out, but has little flippable foot pieces that can restrict which way the door can swing.All in all I was hesitant to spend ninety bucks, but it's a beautiful door, my wife loved it, and it's incredibly sturdy.EDIT 3/8/21:So we've had this gate for about a year and a half now, and just lemme say that this thing is going strong! I really haven't had to do any more tightening on the sides, and it's stayed up pretty well. Our (now) almost 7 year old blasts through it all the time to get to the bathroom during school and it's not a problem, our cat jumps over it fine, and my wife and I go through it about 30 times apiece throughout the day, so it gets a TON of abuse. It's starting to get some knicks and dents from toys and stuff continually going through it and slammed against it (2 yr old in the house...), but it still looks really good. This gate is sturdy, functional, and looks great. There were two annoyances that I don't fault them on, because, depending on how you use it, may not be issues at all. The first is the two step process to open (pull the lever of the door AND pull up on the door). This is probably great if the gate is for a baby/toddler, but unnecessary for pets. I taped down the lever so it is always open and you only need to pull up on the door to open it. The other annoyance is that the isn't a way to keep the door open. For this I just added a couple of carabiners so I can lock the door open when I want the dogs to come and go as they please. Neither of these make the product lose a star as they are use cases unique to me and we both easy to "fix" with stuff I had on hand. Everything was a breeze to install. Unpacking everything took longer than actually installing it. Well worth the money.

5 stars for the appearance, this gate looks really good in my house. It exceeded my expectations. In the light it’s pretty similar to my floors and in dim lighting it goes well with our railing.2 stars for the install. I struggled a little bit, mostly because I am very particular about getting things leveled horizontally and vertically. I had my level out trying to get it straight in every direction. Got it very close. I also used some gripper cups because I didn’t want to put holes on the wall. That was another reason the install was harder.4 stars for quality because it is not solid wood. For the price I wouldn’t expect it to be. I can’t tell if it is plastic or some sort of composite wood. Regardless it looks good and is pretty sturdy. I’d probably say it’s a 4 1/2 star.I also like the stair safety feature. It has a little latch at the bottom of the door that won’t allow you to open the door in the direction of the stairs. A very nice feature for a family with young children or a person operating a daycare.The gate also opens and closes smoothly and has a green indicator communicating a secure latch and red for insecure or unlatched.Altogether I am very pleased with my purchase.
