New coffee table book inspires...
As a fan of the show my wife asked me to buy these for her for some garden inspiration...I did and then found myself flipping thru them...great photography, good explanations that walk you thru the ideas and help you lay out your own takes on them if you so choose......ended up buying his other books and plan to tackle a spring project INSPIRED by his designs...

Great landscaping ideas
I gave this book to 2 colleagues as gifts (plus I have one of my own). The ideas are great! It's obvious that the home owners in the book have money, but don't let that stop you. Consider hiring college landscaping students to help you with the projects.

Not necessarily for US Gardeners
What Jamie does is just amazing. This was obviously earlier in his career and completed in Australia.If you are looking for overall design ideas this is great. If you are looking for planting ideas for the USAI would not look here.

This shows his early work -just starting out.
It has some interesting ideas but overall it definitely shows his early years of work. He has evolved since then and I would not recommend this to someone who has design experience.

Quality could not be worse
Great design. Terrible, bad, awful, not good at all quality. Pictures are after only 1 year. I've honestly never seen anything fall apart so fast. Splitting wood, nails popping, stain disappearing. I can't imagine how it could be worse. DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND.

Must-read for garden design
I must admit that I wasn't expecting much from Jamie Durie, knowing him mainly for his home renovation shows in Australia.However, after much searching through countless books on garden design in bookstores, I found his books to be far and away the best I've seen.His designs are very modern and innovative and the book gives a lot of insight into the design and construction process. Backgrounds and reasoning on particular choices made and goes into detail on subjects such as lighting, plants and materials.I own quite a few garden design books and I would definately rate this the best I've seen and just about every design in his books I would rate amongst the best I've seen.

a terrible disappointment
I've bought that book 'cause I'm planning to transform a small corner of my garden into a nice patio. But this book is about balconies, sky gardens, decks, pools, back yards, seaside retreats, etc...Nothing about patios!!! If you're looking for ideas for your patio, this probably isn't a good book for you.

Jamie Durrie wurde bei uns in Deutschland durch die Serie The Outdoor Room im Glitz TV bekannt. Das Buch spiegelt seine tollen Ideen wieder.Bei einigen Vorschlägen befinden sich auch Grundrisse der gestalteten Flächen. Obwohl das Buch in englisch ist, kann man sich aber sehr gute Vorschläge für Gärten, Terrassen und Balkone holen.Ich würde dieses buch auf jeden Fall wärmstens empfehlen, wenn man handwerklich geschickt ist und das eine oder andere daraus selber herstellen kann.

I am redesigning my garden in the Spring and this book is full of ideas and good photographs.Fantastic price paid, looks lovely on the coffee table, and cheaper than magazines.Easy to understand.

Living in Europe/Germany its a good inspiration designing your outdoor kitchen the Australian Way.The detailed description of the Materials and Design keys are a great input to create your outdoor BBQ area.
