It is a watchmaker anvil. Just the right hardness to provide good support, but not scratch most of the stuff you put on it. Some of the smaller holes are not very concentric, but at the price point I guess it is acceptable

This little block is pretty heavy and solid. The size is perfect for what I needed and the assortment of holes makes this a very versatile tool. I am really surprised at how much I’ve come to rely on this item every day.

I was expecting this item to be much more finished and dressed then it was. The edges have a sharp burr from the cut, and all the holes are a little miss aligned. It was obviously cut from hexagonal steel bar stock and quickly finished with a few hastily hand drilled holes with a few kerf cuts on one edge. No lapping was done , clearly. The surfaces of the sides are rough and coated with what looks like black oxide and do not appear as they do in the photos. The top and bottom or ends are not parallel. they are off by 0.07 mm. Having said all that I don't believe the flaws will out weigh it's utility. It should serve the purpose I have in mind. The price is good for the utility it provides. I would think professional jeweller or watch maker would not be looking for one of these here. I am not with out the ability to improve the upon the finish as well. I'm dinging it for the mismatch between the photos and the object as it appears in real life.

this is some good basic kit; recommend degreasing it and applying some cold blue as soon as you get it; firmly in the category of tools that sits around and stares at you for months (even years), but darn it - when you need it you need it; very handy for pin punching; holds guide pins during assembly; won't roll off the bench

If you starting with watches/jewelry is a must will help to keep in check and a firm place an a 3rd hand good for beginners and very inexpensive thanks

Very handy for gunsmithing to repair damaged screws. Well built and solid.

The smaller row of holes is not in line at all. Low quality, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

Nice flat working surface. Holes were not uniformly spaced and had the appearance of not being square to the ground surface. Some nicks were noted on the edge of the holes as well. Since the holes will be clearance holes, these defects should not effect my planned use, but are indicative of the shop quality.

Made in India, surface rust and lot of burs that will need to be removed before it is usable. Pictures show slots of different width and a lot deeper than the actual piece that you will receive, slots are all the same width (1mm) and very shallow, only about 2mm. It is "work in progress" and will require a bit of TLC to make it usable.
