Columbia Women's Plus-Size Sandy River Short

These quick dry shorts are one of the best active gear investments I have ever made. I have worn these hiking in Costa Rica and out kayaking on a lake and they were perfect for both settings. These shorts are very lightweight and comfortable. The fabric is very breathable and, true to the description, dries very quickly. When I wore these kayaking for 5 hours, I definitely got wet, but the shorts dried extremely quickly and didn't leave me feeling uncomfortable and wet on the ride home either. They have small pockets on either side with a mesh lining that are perfect for holding small items like keys or lip balm. They fit as expected and are surprisingly flattering. I would highly recommend these if you go hiking in any sort of warm/wet climate or will be near any body of water. These would also make great shorts for a bathing suit cover up to the beach or to a water park.

Good shorts. Good for summer hikes, walks, and daily year I like the pockets and color.

The fabric is perfect, just what I was looking for, very light and cool. I ordered black. However, the fit is odd. Tight at the waist and butt. Large fits ok but not comfortably and x large was overall too big. I'll keep the large, I guess.

I bought and took these on a trip Super easy to wash and dry. Fit great. Great quality and comfort. Love the pockets as not too deep or shall. Appearance is great. I felt good wearing them .

Very loose in the legs compared to the waist...comfortable, but the elastic of the waist seems to cause the hips to pouf out a bit. For my purposes doesn't matter, just for outdoor work and such, so the roominess is fine. The 'Tusk'color is not really a tan, it's very green- like a medium khaki. But columbia lshorts for 10 bucks is a steal, so these things are not that big a deal. Have not put them to the test outside yet, but I've had a pair of the other sandy river shorts, the kind that comes with the belt, for about 3 or 4 years and they have held up well, wearing almost every day for heavy work.

Great shorts for outdoor activities or just to wear out and about. Cute and comfy.

Nice fitting, easy wear shorts. Black nylon or like material. Washed and dried perfectly and quickly. The elastic waist does have a working drawstring should you need it. Seems true to size, no need to go up or down a size in my opinion. I have bigger thighs and I was glad the leg holes weren't tight. Nice depth to pockets. A zippered pocket on the back. I am happy with my purchase. Having said that, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. UPDATE... 8/30/22 - I ordered the 'turquoise' - it looks really nice and light in the photo - however - it is a VERY DARK teal. Just FYI. I would have preferred the lighter. But these shorts are really good.

I bought these for an upcoming trip to Costa Rica during rainy season. I wanted some shorts that were light, quick dry, water resistant, and with a longer inseam bc we will be doing some adventuring. These check off all those boxes! I wore them to my kids’ swim meet to test them out. The pockets are great, they fit comfortably, and the 5” inseam is a classier length for this mid-aged Mom. When I got splashed from the swimmers diving in, the water just rolled right off of these shorts! I’m impressed! I’m 5’6”, 135lbs, wide hips-I ordered a medium and they fit well. I ordered another pair!

These shorts are very nice quality and color. They fit really good as well. They were my favorite shorts this summer. They wash really well.

Shorts are excellent, I own about 10 pairs of these! Very light, comfortable and definitely fit for every sport and activity I participate in! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good pair of sporting shorts!

I ordered these shorts in black and am very happy with them so far. The fit is quite good and comfortable so I recommend ordering based on the size chart. They are a little baggier than pictured but that's great for doing outside work. The fabric is thin and light and perfect for hot summer days. It is also the type of material that dries very quickly. I already ordered a second pair in blue and am considering getting a third pair. I recommend these shorts and would give them 5 stars so far. As long as they hold up to wear and laundering for the next year I'll be happy. Update: It's about 6 weeks or so since I got these shorts and I am still very happy with them. They wash and dry on the regular cycle very well and do not require any special care. I mentioned that the shorts are a bit baggy. This is actually a good thing as the material has no stretch at all. I find them comfortable and would look at buying more shorts as well as other items from this brand. I've never been a Columbia wear person but this year ordered shorts, a jacket and a skort (on sale of course, being a bargain hunter) and am thrilled with them all. Highly recommend. 5 stars.
