No problem finding bags. I use it as a recycler
I finally upgraded to a full-size recycling bin (EKO Phantom-T 50L/13.2 gallon vertical motion sensor version) since the Simplehuman under cabinet combo unit couldn't hold much more than a single 2L soda bottle on the recycling side. My needs then are clear bags which were easily found - Hefty scent free 13 gallon "Clear Tall Kitchen Drawstring Bags" available on Amazon in boxes of 60. The Hefty bags go all the way to the bottom eliminating the concern of heavy items yanking the bag loose. Reviewers had expressed concern about finding bags and it nearly prevented me from buying this unit so I wanted to offer some specifics. Perhaps the concerns were for other unit sizes as the listing has several choices. As with all garbages the recessed ring that holds the bag in place (and keep it from hanging outside the perimeter of the bin) is a pain, although it DOES work fine. I don't want to dedicate 5+ minutes to "tucking in" the bag all around between the ring and the perimeter so I just skip the ring entirely and put the bag overlapping the outside perimeter and pop the top back on - as you can see in the picture. It stays in place fine and I don't notice or care about an inch of bag being visible - it's not like people otherwise would think this thing is a piece of art - it's a garbage can no matter how you dress it. Maybe if company is coming I'll get up early that day...A red LED light that flashes every 6 seconds on the top could be annoying but easily solved with a LightDims black circle over it (also on Amazon and potentially visible in the picture). Our unit had a small ding on the right side despite the solid double-cardboard box packaging it arrived in which was frustrating but not enough to warrant a return given the size of the package, my laziness, and the fact that this is likely the just the first of many dings in it's natural life. It does however highlight the thinness of the stainless material used. Does it matter? Not really, but the unit is fairly light - that might be good or bad for you.I was worried about walking by - would it pop open all the time as it has a 6" sensitivity zone? No it doesn't and we walk very close to it in our regular paths of movement. If this is a problem for your location it's easy to set on manual mode and press the open button which is just as fast opening as the sensor. I read somewhere about an odor or filter package being there, but I never found the filter or where to put it even if I did. Given it's a recycling bin for me and not regular garbage this isn't a grave concern. The 6 AA batteries (which were not included) were easy to install. I choose to put felt feet on the bottom given the location otherwise it would be hard to drag out to replace the bag since you need clearance all around to pull the lid off. With the felt feet it's easy to slide out, pop the top off, replace the bag/top and slide back. I will say that moving from an open-topped under cabinet model to one where you need to pull off (and set down) a top every time you replace the bag takes some getting used to and is not ideal. But that is certainly not a problem unique to this unit and reflects more on my laziness than the company or the product.

Very satisfying to throw things out
Very responsive to motion. While I enjoy watching it open and close, it’s nice to have a button for immediate closing.

Malfunctioning touchless lid
Bought the EKO Mirage 47 liter Touchless Trash Can on November 24, 2024. Have loved this touchless lid. Just this last week it started partially opening and then closing right away and now won’t open. We put new batteries in it so that is not the problem. Also made sure the sensor was cleaned. Hoping there is some kind of fix or remedy for this. So frustrating to have paid over $100 to have a malfunctioning product not even 6 months later. Also, after reading another review, discovered I was sent a model with a battery compartment with only 4 batteries instead of the 6 in the item description of what I purchased.

Really great trash bin
This is a really great trash bin when you don't have a trash can that is inside your cabinets. As it automatically opens and closes, I don't have to use my dirty hands so it stays clean longer. It does a good job of containing odors, even without using any freshener. The one thing I'd mention is when I use regular 13-gallon trash bags, I really have to stretch the top to fit the liner, so might not be a good option for someone with no upper body strength. Also, this is the second one I've had as the first one, the motor stopped working after almost 4 years of service. But, I was so pleased, I purchased the exact same one again.

An inside liner is the way to go
We just purchased our second set of these from the same company. The first set lasted a number of years and looked brand new when we decided to replace them. We always buy the one with the inside liner to avoid tears in the plastic bag and leaks.

Great trash can
*REVIEW UPDATE*Originally I was very disappointed that standard 13 gallon trash bags didn't fit. Upon some "practice runs" while it is a very tight fit (which is probably good), I was able to get the trash bag on there. The trash can is very stylish and the motion open and close works great. What a racket, they advertise this as a 12.4 gallon trash can so us unsuspecting customers ASSUME the standard 13 gallon trash bags would fit perfectly! NOPE, they designed the insert with such odd dimensions that the 13 gallon bags don't fit which FORCES you to buy very expensive ones through the trash can company. We had an EKO trash can for 4 years that we loved until the circuit board shorted out, the old one fit the 13 gallon bags perfectly. This is slimy bad business it's worst! Shame on you EKO!
