Munsell, the artia
The Munsell color system is widely used. Reading the words of the creator helps bring life to his system. Munsell was an artist and teacher, which are the dominant themes of this short work. His focus on Hue, Value, and Chroma are reflected in HSV, where saturation is chroma. Luminosity is another term for value. In 1929, the 10 hues in a group became 4,

A classic
A classic, but you need to have a background in color science. I would recommend this for a basic reference to this topicl

a self antonymn
As a text history it has some value (minus the poor formatting); more 'historical' if you display in sepia. But a Kindle book on color is like Visual BASIC for the blind.

Fun and Interesting too.
I read it to get a feel for the Munsell system only. I paint so I don't need the digital portion. I think I got a good understanding of the Color Space.

Useless Without Illustrations
Imagine reading a cookbook in which all the ingredients are left out. There is not a single image or diagram in this entire text. Being a technical book on color and constantly referring to nonexistent “plates” and diagrams makes this book all but useless.

Well written but not well illustrated
The book is written with clarity and precision of language however even for a Kindle version I would have expected colour charts. They are referenced in the text but appear to be missing. The reference to a child's understanding and training of perception makes the text invaluable as a teaching tool though I doubt that this book is used as such.Naturally there were no Pantoncolorameter in 1902.Because of the missing colour charts I give it four stars.

which is a great pity.
This book is a classic of colour theory and practice, but to me at least it's of very little use without its illustrations, which is a great pity.

A different look at colour
I found the ideas difficult to follow easily so I shall stick to my current palette and develop other ways like using complementary colours.

where are the plates?
There are no illustrations and coloured plates in the Kindle edition. The editing is appalling, better of with the paper edition.
