How many gpm is it rated for with the flow restrictor installed? thank you!

Our shower head has a flow restrictor to comply with the national Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPAct 92), which sets a maximum flow rate of 2.5 gpm with a water pressure of 80 psi for showerheads manufactured, sold, and/or installed in the U.S. Most U.S. citizens do not enjoy a water pressure of 80 psi. The average water pressure is less than 60 psi. At 60 psi, the flow rate is around 2.0 gpm with the flow restrictor. But the flow restrictor in this shower head can be removed to increase the water flow rate by 20-25%. So, you can enjoy a 2.5 gpm shower at only 60 psi by removing the flow restrictor.

Regarding better water pressure, which one would be best, 1.8 or 2.5gpm?

I would suggest that you get the 2.5gpm one. The 1.8gpm is good but it restricts more water than the 2.5gpm.

How do I remove the pressure restriction?

I believe it is in the installation instructions. That’s how I found out, I no longer have instructions or I would share. Sorry
