Assembly is super easy, however setup is a little awkward still but the retroflag website has some great resources to get you going. I highly recommend following a YouTube tutorial if you are a novice Pi user.

I had waited a while to purchase as these tend to sell out very quickly. When it arrived I was not disappointed. The build quality it's excellent, screen clear and bright. the only slight let down is the instructions which are a little hard to follow when it comes to installing the pi zero into the cartridge. Fortunately there are plenty of step by step videos online.

The GPi case is slightly smaller than an original GameBoy but is still easy to hold and use even with larger hands. It feels nice and solid and overall well built. I had no issue installing the Pi Zero and had the whole thing ready to play within a few minutes; there was even a screwdriver in the box. The screen is quite small but is bright and sharp enough for playing retro games which seem to scale well to the low resolution. The sound is good and clear. This is using the Pi Zero which isn't a very powerful SBC for emulation so it will only really work with older consoles and arcade machine emulation. It is important to use the right image with the most optimised emulators and romsets for the Pi Zero. So far performance has been pretty decent, but it definitely needs rechargeable batteries or and external battery pack because even with WiFi and Bluetooth turned off I'm only getting 2-3 hours of use. All in all, I'm reasonably impressed but it would have been better if they'd gone with a 3.5inch screen instead. It could also do with some cooling or ventilation as the Pi can get quite hot; I've not had a thermal shutdown yet but I think it may come close with some emulators/games. I quite like the cartridge feel; it would be easy to set up multiple cartridges for different systems and just switch between them to give the feel of a proper retro cartridge-based handheld console.

This bit of kit is just perfect for anyone wishing to relive the glory days of the GameBoy, Ga,eBouy Colour, Gamegear, Turbo GT etc. The only issue I can even think of is that GBA emulation is let down by the position of the L and R buttons, but it's really not a big issue.

For the price, excellent value and worked far better than I thought the weak point is the Pi Zero which is fine to play as far as basic PS1 games.

Amazing product and very easy to setup and install software. Brings back all the nostalgia of playing the Gameboy for the 1st time.

Cheap overpriced rubbish, screws broke first time, when all connected no controllers detected. Waste of time

Standoff screws on “cartridge” where you fit the pi zero are very easily snapped off in the case thread hole. I very gently tightened them with the included screwdriver however I’d suggest you hand tighten them only and be cautious to tighten them at all other than by hand! I ended up ordering a second cart case to at least get to a point where it was built and working. Initial experience something of a let down as above, be cautious when putting it together.

Le GPI-case de Retroflag est parfait pour un retour en enfance, cependant, le mien est tombé en panne au bout de ~6 mois (les boutons ne répondaient plus et cela ne venait pas de la cartouche, ni du rpi0). Owootecc est un super vendeur car le support a été très réactif et m'a aidé pour trouver une solution. Donc pour résumer, c'est quand même plutôt une bonne expérience avec le GPI & merci à Owootecc que je recommande !

arriva già assemblato a differenza di quanto si potrebbe pensare per un prodotto di questo tipo serve solo inserie il rpi zero e la micro sd con una delle varie distirbuzioni esistenti ottimo schermo e il feeling dei tasti non farsi trarre in inganno dai 4 bottoni, sul retro della scocca ce ne sono altri 2 cosi da poter goocare anche a snes e md

Lleva todo lo necesario para hacer funcionar tu pi0 como una gameboy. Una pena que optaran por las pilas en vez de una batería, aunque yo lo uso conectado a una powerbank. No tiene indicador de batería. Hay mejores alternativas por poco más.
