Gilbraltar Mailbox ST200B00 is a Better Comparable Extra Large Mailbox
Too many complaints about the hinge rivets being too thin or weak. We get a lot of mail, so, the fact that a mailbox would break after 2 months to a year seemed like a waste of money. Gibraltar has another Extra Large Mailbox on Amazon.com that sells for $29.00 and there are hundreds upon hundreds of 5-star reviews and many pictures of the product from customers. I exchanged this particular Extra Large Mailbox for $80-85 (and bad reviews on Amazon) for the comparable Extra Large Mailbox for $29 ( and GREAT reviews on Amazon). Just make sure you do your research and read reviews, the reviews will save you money and wasting your time on a bad product.Gibraltar Mailboxes Stanley Extra-Large Capacity Galvanized Steel Black, Post-Mount Mailbox, ST200B00 is the comparable Extra Large mailbox that sells for $29 as of July 6, 2018 when I am writing this review. The link for the $29 mailbox, same manufacturer is below:Gibraltar Mailboxes Stanley Extra-Large Capacity Galvanized Steel Black, Post-Mount Mailbox, ST200B00

Beautifully made box with hinge rivets that lasted 1
Beautifully made box with hinge rivets that lasted 1.5 weeks. It puzzles me why a maker will go the extra effort in building a box like this and have such weak hinges. When opening this purchase, I was impressed but worried about the tiny rivets being the fulcrum for the hinge of the face. I've seen this on boxes where the weight is far less than this box. This morning, I saw the face lid laying in the ditch with a parcel inside the box. I went to the local post office and talked with the mail carrier. She said when she opened it, one side dropped down and then the lid swung and came loose from the other side. I admitted the rivets were puny.So if you want to use this box, be prepared to drill out the tiny rivets and install 10-24 x 5/8" button socket head screws with flat washers and nylon lock nut. They fit the existing holes and will last as long as the sheet metal does. If they do a better job on the hinge, the box will be great.

Breaks easily under normal use.
It's a really nice mail box, except the metal (rivet area) attaching the front door is way too thin. The weight of the metal door actually causes it to cut itself a little more every time it's opened. The door broke off after about two months of use. Other reviews have the same conclusion... it's got a major design flaw but they are still selling them with no warranty once used. (per their website)

It is big! But if you use it a bunch it might not last
I really like how big this mailbox is as I ship several packages a week. However after only a month and a half the door is starting to show damage from the poor reinforcements at the hinges. When the door opens there is no mechanical stop so the corners are starting to break and are quite sharp.

Ample size
For anyone who ships or receives packages, this is the mailbox for you. It received rave reviews from Pete, our letter carrier. We are very happy with this mailbox.******Updated April 21,2019:******Or we were very happy...Yes, the hinge is the weak spot, mine failed a few weeks after installation. I really like this box, so I replaced the hinge with an aluminum piano style hinge , sandwiching it between the two door panels. It is secured with aircraft rivets as shown in the pictures. It is then attached to the 5/4 pressure treated base boards, then the box is bolted to the post.Note to the manufacturer, revise your hinge on this box and you will please a lot more customers.

A large (huge) mailbox for those who want to avoid the "country mailbox" look
I bought this a few weeks ago to replace a 1990s all-plastic mailbox that had faded pretty bad and needed a new mounting post; I have had this up for about a week now. After I finished installing this, I got compliments from my mailman about it and the mounting post that I used.As the listing says, this is a fairly large mailbox. On an interesting note, it derives its size from width rather than height, which allows for a great deal of interior space without the "giant rural mailbox" look. On the inside, the interior has a plate attached to the top; while slightly reducing the opening at the front, it looks to reinforce the structure. For those who send mail out from their box, the flag is heavy-duty.As for durability, I've only had it up for a week, but the construction seems to be quite solid. My primary concern seems to be the door, as it is only secured by a magnet (no supplementary friction latch).Overall, I'd give it about 4 1/4 stars.Pros: Solid construction Weather-sealed interior Attractive design Room for both mail and (smaller) Amazon packages!Cons: Weak(ish) door magnet Comes only in black Interior reinforcement slightly reduces size of interior door opening (though still large).

Poor design BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT DO NOT BUY
Installed this what I thought was the heaviest best built mailbox about 1.5 months ago and this is how long it lasted....1.5 months. The hinges are cheap pop rivet and broke easily. It started getting weak the very first week I had the mailbox and I’m very dissatisfied as I have to now break open the brand new brick mailbox I installed and replace the mailbox then have it totally repainted again. This company should stop selling these immediately because I’m sure after all the work I did to install and money put in the brick mailbox will cause some lawsuits in the future if they don’t change the poor hinge design.

Its a nice box. Very heavy
Its a nice box .Very heavy ..I bought the post too since the hardware is in that package no mounting bolts in mail box...... the magnet closure assembly is weak for a rural area the wind will open it up...however I installed a stronger magnet now it will be worry free....... The post that comes with the mailbow for an additional 53 dollars is 4x4 thin aluminium channel ........ I have my doubts on durability.......so i plan to beef it up to withstand a big wheel bike or worse to withstand anything comes it's way .....but I'm sure I will change that post early on ...... not worth the money but you need it for the hardware to make it fit the mail box ......
