Like all NOVA chucks, this one is of top quality and dependability. Recently, I found that the blank I was turning offered only a limited accommodation for the jaws I had. Although I have many jaws, I decided that this one was the only realistic option. When you find/buy a nice chunk of wood, bring it home, cut it to your size with a chainsaw, carefully dry it for the appropriate time (weeks, months, or years), turn it into a blank on the bandsaw, and mount it to your lathe, you have invested a fair amount of effort, thought, and gold. Of course, if you skip all that and pay a huge amount for a prepared blank, this will not make much sense. Either way, there is an investment of time, and eventually, something more personal. As you turn it, you find out what the wood will allow. The 100mm jaws you planned to use will not work. The 50mm jaws are too small. That is your dilemma. Will you now say that the pittance you must give up for this quality product is not worth the many years of value it will bring? Frankly, for one really good piece of wood, this chuck is worth the price. Don't change your project to fit the chucks that you have. Buy the jaws that you need now.

They run true and hold really well.

I own several NOVA chucks with a variety of jaw sizes, however, the ones I had were too big and too small for the lidded box I was turning. These were perfect. Nice quality and delivery was fast.

I have two nova chucks these allow me to work on smaller parts, larger than a pin in smaller than the 4 inch, they fit perfectly and work, just as you would expect from nova.

These are really nice jaws, but not for me. I didn't check the specs good enough. I primarily use tenons (spigots) for holding. My 50 mm jaws are a bit small for some projects and my 100 mm are too big so thought this would work. You can make deeper tenons but not really much bigger than with the 50's. These do work for larger recesses than the 50. These are super heavy duty but not what I needed. Looks like the Powergrip PJSN is what I'm looking for. From Nova's website you can download a jaw manual that has the specs for all of their jaws. Should have done that first, oh well. 5 stars for quality and build but taking off 1 point since specs are not clearly indicated at time of purchase.

These chuck jaws have dovetail inside and out as well. Deep inside capacity allows for deeper tenons than other jaws. The thickness of the jaws makes for a very secure grab on work pieces. They fit my G3 chuck perfectly as do the other Nova jaws I own.
