12/06/2019 - OTG on FireStick 4k - Working
Let us set the expectations...* although the device may work, the USB device you are using may not be supported by the streaming device you are using. This is not a detraction from the cable. Some devices are not supported by Linux and Spin-off OSs like Android. When I first started to write this review I couldn't get my perfectly working PNY 32G USB2 memory stick to be recognized in either cable, on either of the FireSticks.Replacing the PNY with a Similarly Spec'ed SanDisk Cruzer 32G USB2 memory stick and it works great.I see someone knocked the product for not having an instruction sheet. It is a cable.Do you get an instruction sheet for an Apple Lightning Cable or a Micro USB cable? No.You plug the devices in the only way that they can be plugged in.The manufacture has no idea what device you are plugging this into or what OS it is using. For support of the Device to use this cable... you would have to go to the device manufacturer. That said,You just plug in the device the only way possible. You can do a search on YouTube and find plenty of examples of people plugging in the device to the power, and then into the Streaming stick and plugging in the desired USB device. But it is really self explanatory. On FireSticks, you will have to download a FileBrowser to access te files on the Stick.ES Browser is the one I downloaded. You cannot download directly to the stick. You cannot "Upgrade" your Firestick's internal memory, just add the removable memory.Meaning, you can transfer files to the stick. You can watch movies from the stick. But if you run out of internal memory while downloading a movie from your favorite legal streaming service with offline support, your download will fail.I have not tested Keyboards or Mice yet.Just Memory sticks. If your memory stick fails to work, it is probably not supported by your device.

Add storage to your Firestick
As others have commented this little gizmo is the perfect solution to adding more storage to your Amazon Firestick. There is a great tutorial on YouTube from Troypoint on how to accomplish this task. It's not as simple as plug and play. 1st, you will need a USB drive which is easy enuf. 2nd, you will be typing in various code to get it up and running...all explained very well in that tutorial. Took about half hour w/ the longest part being factory resetting the Firestick. Now, when I sideload Apps they go straight to that partition on the USB drive and not the stick itself. You can also format the USB to a partition that will save movies and TV shows if you choose (requires a file manager app). All made possible with this handy little $7 cable. Thumbs way up!

Fits narrow micro USB slot on Fire TV 4K
Purchased for Fire TV 4K. Was concerned that plastic around micro usb plug was too thick but fits perfectly into the narrow slot on the Fire TV. Hooked up to USB/Ethernet hub and Fire TV was able to detect keyboard, mouse, and wired network connection.

Cables Worked Fine, Many Reviewers Say
... without indicating what goals they were accomplishing with these cables and the storage devices connected thereto. After a while, I read a review in which the author indicated he intended to copy some movie files on his PC to a USB drive connected to his Fire stick with these cables, so he could watch them on his TV. My immediate reaction might interest those of you with similar objectives. Why not simply run PLEX Media Server on your PC and the PLEX client app on your stick. Unlike USB drives of any ilk, PLEX is free, among many other more significant virtues. This incredible software can send movies, videos, pictures, music, TV shows... you name it... from the relevant folders on your PC to any device in your arsenal. Of course, you can also view all this stuff on your PC monitor. Why use cables when wifi is available? Anywhere in the world. Check it out. You won't regret it.

problems
I bought this item while following instructions -- that I got from several Youtube posts -- to extend the memory available on my fire stick. Once installed, the Firestick started rebooting it's self periodically. Since it was difficult to plug into the female end, I thought perhaps I had a defective cable. Seeing as how it was very inexpensive, I ordered another one. Had the same problem with the replacement. I guess I was not fated to upgrade the memory capability of my Firestick.

I got this specifically to use with my NES & SNES Mini systems. It seems to work fine.

Worked with 2nd Gen Fire Stick
Cable seems reasonably well constructed, and worked when tested with my 2nd Gen Fire Stick and a flash drive. As they stated, the cable would not charge either of the Windows tablets I tried it with, but it did seem to power the connected USB device.

It's okay didn't work with ethernet adapter though
Product works great as long as it's hooked directly up to the fire stick I only gave it two stars because with the description I read I see no reason for it not to work on the firestick ethernet adapter but when I tried to use it with the ethernet adapter my firestick would not even turn on all the way and when I tried hooking this up after the ethernet adapter my firestick did turn on but the ethernet adapter would not work and my firestick was connected to the internet using Wi-Fi. Other than that the product works fine data transfer for USB drive was great no buffering or anything like that

hit or miss
amazon had these amazing OTG adapters, a bit pricey, but extremely reliable. Unfortunately, discontinued. had to settle for this.Gave these a try, it's a 60/40 kinda deal. Randomly freezes on you, not always, but still. It shouldn't at all...

Works but not with everything
Purchased this so I could add an air mouse to my fire tv. It works fine with adding the air mouse but when I plug the Ethernet adapter into this cable my fire tv doesn’t recognize it. Thinking about returning it, not sure if I want the air mouse and keyboard more than the hardwired Ethernet adapter

OTG Cable
The cable worked, however when connected to my Amazon Fire Stick constantly my Fire stick would shutdown and then restart. After a few days of this issue I unhooked the cable and my Fire stick has worked flawlessly; as it did before the OTG cable connection.Guess I'll just have to connect it when I want to record something.
