Worth the money
This product is AMAZING. It has reduced the amount of mess my birds make by 80-90%. I do have a new problem where the birds like to sit on top of them and poop, but this can be easily fixed by having them hang on the outside. I did try that and I didn’t notice any gaps or concerns with securing it, but it has tempted the cat too much. I’m not sure how easy it would be for a cat to jump up and nock it down, but I’d rather not find out. I reduced one star because it is pretty difficult to twist the hooks into the holes. One I still haven’t been able to get all the way screwed in. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone with birds that throw seeds out everywhere.

Your cockatiels personality is important to know
I was worried about this products because I wanted it for my cockatiels. They're messy and keep doing their seasonal business on the side of their bowls.... But not many people seem to be getting this for them. I have 2 one is very carefree and one is very very cautious. My cautious one isn't the fondest of it. He's getting used to it though. It's been about a month now. My other cockatiel is kind of mostly carefree. He took to it fine. First day was caution, but was fine next day.My complaint is it's big so I wanted it to be hung outside the cage but it does not sit flush. It kind of sits out. So unfortunately I have to place it in the cage. Where they kind to stand on it. And make doodies.

Tidy Is As Tidy Does
I love these and have been using them for years for single to multiple-bird cages containing everything from orange cheek waxbills to gouldians to wydah pintails to all of my canaries, whether caged individually or in pairs, et cetera, and they are all able to use it. With regard to fledglings of tiny birds, I would imagine they would use it with the same gusto as the adults - by leaping inside and chowing down. I've never actually seen a finch sit on the perch while eating, not that it matters because the Tidy Seed No-Mess Bird Feeder works. I just wish it would still be offered in the larger size for larger cages but, of course, the profits are higher when one is forced to buy more of the small units which ran about $5 less than the large units when I was last able to purchase a large feeder.CAUTION: NOT DISHWASHER SAFE unless you want to lose that center separating bar after one or two uses; BE CAREFUL - and most of all patient - when screwing the hooks into the feeder. The material of theitself is the hard plastic that will crack if egregiously stressed. If it appears as if the hook will not go in at the nominal 90 degree angle, unscrew it and start over, applying slightly more pressure to the unbalanced side. Do NOT continue trying to screw the hook in once it becomes hard to turn. If the hook is not faced in the right direction, loosen it by the amount required to correct the way the feeder will hang. If the screws (hooks) were overzealously tightened to the point where you might notice a tiny crack where the screw intersects with the plastic and realize too late that you are stronger than you had previously believed, it may be possible to loosen it by a few degrees and thereby prevent further cracking, and/or you could fill the small area between the base of the crack and 1-2 mm above it with a compatible glue (I do not recommend Crazy Glue), allow it to dry completely after using a damp paper towel to remove any excess on the inside of the container, fill it with seed, and let it service your birds for a few days prior to removing and carefully washing the damaged area, allowing it to dry fully and then used.I have had several of my Tidy Bird No-Mess feeders for five or six years and two have cracked where the screw met the plastic, I believe as a result of my bird caretaker's having failed to notice the hairline cracks made when she set them up. Se la vis This is a product that if, for any reason, you are tired of having to scrape seeds off your bare soles, dig them out of shoe bottoms, and watch them seemingly grow in size and scope by the hour as your canaries look on in feigned confusion when you display consernation at their masterfully made messes, you should buy. The aggravation it will save you is well worth it. Additionally, these feeders are extremely clear and do not become dull, scratch-infested former versions of themselves with the passage of a month or six months. And, as passionate fans who love nothing more than teasing a fat canary - who's not only well past reluctance and embarrassment in order to learn new tricks wholeheartedly willing to learn any trick for a particularly relished treat because we all enjoy seeing our feathered friends eat well, healthily and heartily. And, last but not least, with the Tidy Bird No-Mess Bird Feeder, there aren't a ton of parts to fiddle with as other similarly named feeders, none of which come close to comparing in quality and versatility.

Less seed mess.
I was looking for a seed container that would help limit the amount of seed mess around the birdcage. Before buying this container, I was cleaning under the cage every day, but since using this feeder, there’s next to no mess on the floor.

Can't recommend it
Tidy Bird No-Mess Bird Feeder I'm surprised at the number of positive reviews from cockatiel owners. I put one of these in the cage and my cockatiels (who are used to clear acrylic feeders) tried to use it but they had to stay hunched down so that their crests didn't get crushed by the top of the enclosure. Then, trying to turn a little bit at an angle so that they could reach the food, they felt trapped and panicked when they felt the sides of the enclosure pushing on their wings. I was also disappointed that the feeder doesn't hold a lot of food, so taking it out and cleaning it would still be a daily chore. I didn't buy this to make life scary for my birds so I took it out and I am returning it.I've used another brand of acrylic seed-feeder called a "Birdzerk" feeder which has an inside the cage half and an outside the cage half -- you slide the bolts on the inside (acrylic perch and enclosure) into the mounting on the outside portion (a bin to hold feed on top and an enclosed chute below where the seeds and hulls or dropped pellets fall out of the way and stay there until you empty the chute.) It mounts over the cage bars and gravity causes the food to drop into the dish (through the cage bars) and likewise, the uneaten remains to drop out into the chute. You can add more food from outside the cage by lifting the cover over the bin and pouring it in. It's not necessary to empty and completely clean the feeder every day, simply wiping the perch and the inside enclosure every day is good. The food stays fresh because it is in a covered bin and the waste stays trapped in the chute until you empty it (also from outside the cage.) I've used them for years, but we upgraded from bird cages to an aviary with stainless steel mesh sides and an acrylic front. The openings in the mesh are slightly less than 1/2" square and the food hangs up on the wires and doesn't easily fall through and the cracked hulls hang up even more so on the way out because they are spread open and light-weight, the increased size and lack of weight makes it very easy for the chute to get clogged up.I had hoped this new Tidy-Seed feeder would work almost as well but, sadly, it doesn't. In order to work for my birds, the feeder would need to be higher than it is wide to accommodate an upright crest. It would also be nice if the mounting hardware were a little bit more sturdy -- it's not difficult to imagine the tiny cup hooks (used to attach the feeder to the cage)slowly enlarging the holes in the acrylic until they don't function at all.I can say that this feeder would probably work well for smaller birds like finches or perhaps parrotlets but for cockatiels or larger, I believe there's a good possibility that your birds won't use it.
