a story revisited
I read this as a child 55 years ago; then it was just a storyI found this version very readable as an adult and not too cluttered with some of the original theological discussions which you can always read in the full free versions available for the kindle.Surprisingly it kept my attention right to the end and some of the more profound observations ( particularly how crossing Jordan can be different for different Christians ) have stayed with me weeks after finishing the book.I'm not sure how this book will read if you have no faith in Jesus, I guess its either ridiculous or terrifying;but I enjoyed it very much.

The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
It took me what seemed like an age to read this book. It was hard to understand and difficult to focus, but I persevered. The author John Bunyan was a Christian preacher who lived from 1628 to 1688. He wrote this book whilst in prison.Christian leaves his home 'City of Destruction' to travel to the 'Celestial City'. On his way he meets Evangelist who helps him follow the right path. He meets quite a few different characters, some of which try to distract him or imprison him. He has to make some big decisions and sometimes suffers cruelly to reach his goal. I was rooting for Christian all the way. His journey was dreadfully hard but the reward was worth it.The story represents our journey through life. If we follow the right path then our reward will be Heaven. There is no doubt this is a religious book however it's also a good story and I am glad I read it.

Simplified, but why keep to the obsolete language?

i FEEL THAT THIS BOOK IS A GUIDE FOR ALL MANKIND IN THE PRESENT SITUATION WHEN IT IS FACING PSYCHOLOGICAL CHAOS & THE VALUES ARE DETERIORATING.
