Deck, bird, feeding perch
It’s extra long so you can keep the tiny birds away from your other feeders. Was a snap to attach and assemble with a firm grip. And the best part is is that it’s swivels for ease of feeding filling and moving from side to side if needed to keep it away from the other big birds. Excellent purchase would recommend it to anyone so glad I bought it. I wish my other feeder arms swiveled as well.

As sturdy as any other deck hook, but flawed design for hook orientation
This deck hook is longer than most others -- due to its 3-piece design. The 3 pieces screw together to yield the length. But, if you want, you can just use 2 pieces to achieve a shorter length. (I'm not sure why anyone would want the shorter length.)The one flaw in this design (as many others have noted) is that the assembly of the 3 pieces yields a hook on the end that is oriented sideways. The "instructions" say to use the two metal washers when assembling the three pieces. But, whether you use the metal washers or don't use the metal washers, the tightened assembly results in a wrong hook orientation. I tried adding additional washers, and I tried using a lock washer to adjust the orientation. Using a thick lock washer, I was able to get the orientation almost correct. It is not totally tightened, but it should be stable. So, basically, the engineers have not provided a suitable means to tighten the three pieces together in order to yield a correctly-oriented hook. This is easily solvable by the manufacturer in any number of ways -- including simply providing a thicker plastic washer (or two) that can be squished as necessary to yield the correct orientation when the pieces are tightened. So, this item works, but it needs the consumer to tweek it a bit during assembly.

Pole hangar for my bird feeder.
Easy to place on my railing. I like the fact that it extends out far enough for me to see all the birds. Nothing blocking it.

Great deck hooks, but do not use the included washers!
I've got 4 of these and love them. They keep the feeders well out away from the deck reducing the mess caused by the birds during feeding. The swivel base allows you to swing the arm inward to you to easily reach the feeder for a refill. The only thing I would caution against is to not use the washers that come with it. The bar is in 3 pieces that you screw togethers. It comes with 2 washers that the instructions say to put between each screw joint. However, if you use the washers, the extra space the washers consume shortens the rotation of the pieces when you screw them together, and the hook at the end will be crooked and pointing off to the right instead of being centered straight up and down. I discarded the washers and screwed the 3 pieces together, and the hook at the end is perfectly centered.

Won’t lign up.
Like others it’s great if you add your own washers to lign up the poles. Otherwise another piece of junk. No quality control when pressing the screw into the pole. Wouldn’t cost much for them to add 3-5 additional washers to make it lign up.

Fits on 1 inch square metal railing
I'm using this hook to attach to 1 inch square metal railing on my 4th floor balcony. I was concerned about finding something to attach to this type of railing, and this product works! It's strong enough to hold my bird-feeder which holds about 2.5 lbs of seed: Brome 1015 Squirrel Buster Classic 5.3"x5.3"x32" Wild Bird Feeder with 4 Feeding Ports, 1.4qt/2.4lb Seed Capacity The hook arm doesn't telescope - it has 3 pieces that screw together, so you can adjust the length by the number of sections you use. The 2 clamps are adjusted by turning their knobs, and the screws are metal so seem pretty strong. I also used cable ties for some added security - don't want my feeder falling on someone below! The birds enjoy my feeder "in the sky" and their mess isn't falling onto my balcony: love it!

Poor Design with false advertising. I do NOT recommend this.
I can't understand why anyone would recommend this awful product. I definitely do NOT recommend it. It is unnecessarily difficult to assemble and no stronger than "thinner" designs. Even though it simply screws together with a locknut to hold it in place, it was very difficult to assemble due to poor male/female thread engagement. There was no reason for the difficulty, which implies shoddy manufacturing. I used thread lube, but it didn't help. I had to use a large pair of pliers to grip attaching section as I struggled to screw it together, which marred the surface of the bar. I am an aerospace structural engineer, and I can tell you that the assumption that it is stronger due to the large dimensions of the bar relative to other similar products is absolutely false. Any claim to the contrary is blatant false advertising. The load on such a structure is cantilever bending, and the minimum cross section determines the bending strength. The minimum section is at the reduced cross section for the male threads where the bar is reduced to a size no larger than smaller bars. In fact, it may be a smaller cross section at that location than other single piece products. And guess what, that is where it bends. As you struggle to screw it together it will bend and deform at those thread locations, requiring you to bend it back straight. And forget later deciding to shorten or lengthen it since you then must go through the same laborious process of assembly. All that extra bar dimension elsewhere beyond the threads location is useless additional weight. I do NOT recommend this product. I have another brand, also available on Amazon, that is a single piece and is much better. Get that one instead. Besides, it is also cheaper.
