Solution to my problem
I needed to cover a vent to keep debris and water out but still allow maximum ventilation to occur. This bulk material allowed me to make a custom vent screen. Very happy with the way it turned out.

Pre-filters like a boss!
if you're wondering if this is just some cheap fabric, stop wondering. It's the real deal. Air flows freely, but water beads up and rolls off. It's also tough enough to take the abuse of being installed in snowmobile vents.

Good stuff, use it on all my off road atv's etc, tried to make a custom prefilter on agriculture equipment but dust particles were too big and plugged it. More for fine dust and water resistance
