When Cyril met Pat he was pleased to know he wasn’t the only squirrel in Lake Park – now he wouldn’t be lonely with Pat by his side. They were great friends and did everything together. But everyone kept at Cyril, telling him he couldn’t be friends with Pat, because... When Pat was finally driven away, Cyril was lonely once again. All the fun was gone from his life. CYRIL AND PAT, a friendship story, is a rollicking, rhyming picture book about trusting what your own heart tells you instead of listening to the biased opinions of others. It also shows what true friends will do to support one another. This story of a squirrel's and rat's kindred connection has both a beautiful sentiment and beautiful, colorful illustrations by artist-author Emily Gravett. A winner.

I thought the story was going along nicely until the dog was illustrated as kinda vicious. Then many rats show up to tell the dog to back off. This isn't my idea of a good children's book when it gets to that part. The illustrations are done well . The squirrel having a good friend was a nice part of the story. The rat really was a trouble maker, so I think the ending could have been better.

This story overall is super cute and has great illustrations. I was enjoying reading it and can see how kids would really enjoy this story. My problem is that young children pick up on vocabulary and mimic what we say. The line in the book stating: "Not quite alone, you stupid squirrel," could have been phrased another way for children. Emily Gravett has written so many brilliant children's books. It's a shame this was considered acceptable.

Cyril & Pat. È un libro recente, quindi è disponibile anche l'edizione Italiana, chiamata Cirillo e Lapo. Tra l'altro l'edizione Italiana, contrariamente al solito, per i libri di questa autrice, costa meno (per quel che ho visto).Io ho acquistato l'edizione Inglese e le copie sono autografate dall'artista.È un libro di buone dimensioni, non di tantissime pagine, ma veramente molto carino. I disegni sono bellissimi, con splendidi colori e i due protagonisti principali della storia sono due adorabili nasoni rosa 😄.La storia è molto carina e ognuno ci può ricavare vari messaggi.Sicuramente è una celebrazione dell'amicizia, una nata spontaneamente al di la degli schemi, un pò bizzarra, ma sincera.Io non sono una fan dei ratti e dei topi in generale, neanche di quelli piccoli, che per chi abita in campagna sono un'ossessione, ma disegnati sono molto carini e questi mi ricordano quei tre, leone, tigre e orso sequestrati a un uomo di malaffare che essendo vissuti insieme da piccoli, sono amici e affezionati tra di loro e per fortuna sono stati lasciati insieme nella struttura in cui vivono assieme. Mi commuovo ogni volta. Creature che sarebbero nemiche in natura, sono così tenere tra di loro.Mi vengono in mente anche i ratti di un'esperimento su Morgan freeman show, dove ratti di un tipo (bianchi), pur non conoscendosi, si aiutavano a vivenda (a scappare da un contenitore) mentre non aiutavano altri ratti di un altra razza (con la testa nera). Ma una volta familiarizzati con questi ultimi, anche se si trattava di topi estranei, li aiutavano. Scusate la divagazione, ma lo trovo molto interessante e chissà che non apra la via a una convivenza migliore tra esseri 🐿🐀

Wonderful story and beautiful illustrations. This is our toddlers favourite book and we really enjoy reading it to him

My 5 year old loves this book. The pictures are superb. Will be buying few more as birthday presents for her friends.
