Introduction to Python Programming and Developing GUI Applications with PyQT 1st Edition

This is my second Python book after "python for absolute beginner" (455 pages).For absolute beginner I recommend reading "python for absolute beginner" then this book specially if you want to learn how to use QT designer to rapidly design your GUI programs and then program it using pyqt and python. Approximately half of the book is reserved for PYQT.The book gives simple yet really important examples to grasp the must important concepts which you are more likely to use in every program rather than immersing in details. That is why, the book is slim 392 pages only.I didn't read it all until now (reached ch6) and I will update my review later.

English:It is an excellent book for beginners and experienced programmers. Explain in detail each topic with simple examples and easy to enteder. The difficulty level gradually increases as one moves forward in reading. The author of this book has an extraordinary ability to explain and communicate their knowledge in each topic.Spanish:Es un libro excelente para programadores principiantes y experimentados. Explica detalladamente cada topico con ejemplos sencillos y faciles de enteder. El nivel de dificultad incrementa paulatinamente segun se va avanzando en la lectura. El autor de este libro tiene una extraordinaria habilidad de explicar y comunicar su conocimiento en cada topico.

I really liked this book, until I got to the chapter about installing PyQt, the main focus of this book. THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOW TO GET IT INSTALLED AND WORKING IS WOEFULLY OUT OF DATE. I understand that this is because they can't just update the print, but buyer beware. You will need to do a fair bit of googling and searching to figure out how to install the necessary code bases and bindings.

This is not only a great book to get into GUI programming with Python, but also an excellent introduction to Python for people who already know programming in C or C++.

Good overview of python with simple examples that drive the point home effectively. Also, it's worked as a good reference book when I needed to refresh myself on some specific topic. The only thing I don't like is the author's emphasis on using Qt designer for the GUI examples. I prefer writing code and not relying on Qt designer for everything. If he provided a couple of fairly complex detailed examples using tkinter, I would have given it a 5-star rating.

Poorly written, verbose examples, and a strange combination introducing python with the more advanced topics of PyQT. Of the books I've read, this is at the bottom of the pile.

This was a gift and was very well thought of. For those who want an introduction to Python Programming it would be very helpful.

I am completely satisfied. This is the very best I have bought. I do not regret my money . this is an investment.
