Sleeping in NC
My spouse has cognative issues and gets up several times at night to go to bathroom. She had a lot of pain in her knee that compounded this problem. Since she couldn't physically make it to the bathroom without danger of falling, I couldn't sleep for fear of her getting up. She had surgery on knee and that pain deminished but she still got up often. A couple of days after surgery she got up and I didn't hear her and she had bad fall in bathroom that resulted in a 911 call and ER visit. I knew that I was either going to have to employ a sitter several nights a week or find some other means of knowing when she gets up and still allow's me to get some rest. I searched the net and found this sensor. In the evening when she goes to bed I place it on the floor by the bed and any time she starts to put her feet on the floor it "ding dongs" a couple of times which wakes me up. It also has a remote but I haven't used it. This allows me to go into a good sound sleep knowing that I will be awakened if she gets out of bed. I would recommend it to anyone who has a similar problem.

Not the solution we needed
There's nothing inherently wrong with this alarm. As long as the batteries are kept fresh and the patient can't move the sensor, it's just fine. We were in a situation where the sensor couldn't be nailed down, though, so the patient kept defeating the system. We ended up replacing it with a baby monitor that is working out much better.

Excellent
This product is working very well at letting me know when my elderly mother attempts to get up by herself. It is fantastic and doesn't stress Mom. It could have used better operation instructions. It took me awhile to understand the importance of turning the remote on before the unit, but once I got that right, it exceeds my expectations.

Motion Sensor
I love this thing. My Mom stays with us and was getting up in the middle of the night to use the commode and falling--definitely not good. So, I positioned the sensor so that it goes off the minute she swings her legs over the side of the bed and I'm in there in a hot second. There is a delay of 35 sec when you first activate the sensor and that can be a bit disconcerting until you get use to it, but now that is great also. I just cannot say enough good things about this item!!

Bait and Switch
The unit was not by the manufactor advertised. It was a China made product. The main unit worked, but the wireless remote would not work at any distance. I tried at a distance of three foot and the remote would not respond. I have requested a MRA so I can return the unit for a refund.

Good Device
I've had the unit for about a month. I love it. I place it on the floor and the foot of the bed for the night and point it across the side of the bed. When my wife tries to get out of bed, it chimes. Loud enought to wake me up and I'm a sound sleeper. No false alarms but it does chime when you turn it on and again when it's "ready". I've found that it doesn't always turn on and that's how you know. That's the only negitive thing I can say about it. Good battery life, I've not changed it yet. I've not used the remote chime as I can hear the base unit at the other end of the house when if I get up before her. Good unit for the money and gives you peice of mind that they will not get up and fall.

Is No Star An Option?
I ordered this product and received the much cheaper and entirely worthless Wander Alarm instead. The Wander Alarm works fine when first tested, but once it has been on for a little while, it no longer registers when the beam is broken. We tried different batteries, different locations and nothing helped. I did some research, including calling Posey directly, and found that the Posey alarm is on back order. Some other medical supply companies said that it had been on back order quite a while. Posey does not sell directly to the public and did say that the item was on back order. So save your money and order something else. If you really want the Posey item, then call around to find someone that can get it - or call Posey direct and they will tell you which companies carry there products.
