As simple as 1-2-3
It arrived flat packed. Very easy to put together. Maybe 15 minutes. Needs two people to lift onto roof rack. Inside there are two handles at each corner. One allows you to slide the clamps to your roof crossbeams and the other locks the clamps around the crossbars. Having never used a cargo carrier before I was a little apprehensive but the box felt as if it was super glued to the crossbeams! Lid opens on either side. It is impossible to open the lid without the key inserted. You also cannot lock the lid without the key inserted and you can only remove the key if the box is locked. Holds plenty of stuff. It was full and was no where near the maximum load capacity(We did choose lighter stuff to put in it. But isn't that common sense?). As the box is wedge shaped there was only a little noise even at high speeds 70-75-80.I preferred this box to the Yakima skybox 12 or 16 as the rocketbox is not as long. However, it is wider that the skyboxes. If you want a bike rack up there as well then this probably isn't the rack for you because of the width of the box. One word of caution. Don't set the box on your roof with the clamps closed as there are metal screws that stick out and they could scratch your paint. Won't happen if you open the clamps a little before you lift the box. I had put something down on the roof anyway so i was lucky as I only noticed the metal screws later. The box probably deters would be thieves as it allows you to keep the back seat empty of any belongings or luggage. My Wife and I are both extremely pleased with the quality and functionality of the box. I have a 2011 Subaru Outback with the moveable crossbeams and they worked great as well.

Great for Crossovers like the RX350
After trying to fit a Thule Atlantis 1600 to our crossover SUV and quickly realizing that I wouldn't be able to fully open the liftgate with the box on top of the car, I altered my search criteria to find a shorter, less stylish & sexy, but utilitarian container that would allow us to take a week-long vacation with our small family (3) in only one car. That search left me to consider, among others, the ubiquitous 13 cu ft Thule 667ES Excursion ES Rooftop Cargo Box , the 15 cu ft Yakima RocketBox 15S Cargo Box or the fairly new RocketBox Pro 12. In the end, I went with the one that to me looked the least dorky and still gave me the storage capacity I thought I'd need. There were no reviews on it, but I rolled the dice and figured the Yakima engineers would have produced a solid product, which I'm happy to say, they did.Installation onto the factory crossbars is a breeze. Check out the video on the product description, and rest assured, it IS that simple. I positioned my wife's Lexus RX's bars at the widest positions, and the Pro 12 fit fine. I also installed it on my FX35 to check the fit, and this box works fine for that CUV as well.Capacity - I'll upload some pics, but to give you an idea of what you can get out of your car's cabin, I loaded 2 beach chairs, 2 large beach umbrellas, one small clip-on umbrella, a beach cart Rio Brands Deluxe Wonder Wheeler , two Micro-Mobility mini kick scooters (awesome!), and several beach towels. The towels kept things from bouncing & sliding, as I'd loaded the box and had forgotten (or was too lazy) to strap everything down with Master Lock 3060DAT 12-Foot-by-1-Inch Lashing Strap, 2-Pack that I'd purchased. On the road - Minimal wind noise, less impact on fuel economy than I'd anticipated (averaged 23.5 MPG on the nearly all highway 160 mi roundtrip, so I'm guessing a 5-10% loss) and no impact on handling that I noticed. The front lip of the lid did wiggle and rise slightly at speeds above 60 mph, but not enough to be of concern. There are 2 locking latches on each side, so I wasn't worried about losing the lid. I can't vouch for the rain-worthiness of the box, as the only shower we had during the week was overnight when the car was stationary. No moisture entered on that occasion.Pros: Looks decent, dual-side opening, priced competitively vs. Thule (who I use for all my bike and kayak needs), is easy to install & remove, well-made and does what it's supposed to do.Cons: Lid does flex more than I think it should at highway speeds, and it'd be easier to load if the lid opened higher.Bottom line: I'd deduct half a point for those two quibbles, so if possible I'd give this 4.5 stars. It is a good alternative to less stylish boxes out there, and ideal for a little extra space for small and mid-size SUV's and sedans.

Awesome (Rocketbox 12) - Perfect Fit for Burley D' Lite
Bought the Rocketbox 12 for our new BMW X5 - using standard BMW roof rails and cross bars.Fit/worked great for the intended purpose of providing storage for our son's Burley D'Lite child trailer. The Rocketbox felt a little flimsy upon assembly, but 'on' the truck it was stable and gave no impression of opening up or flexing at up to 80mph.Looks good, not too big for this truck.Assembly was a simple 10 minute job - no tools required. Instructions were non-written and easy to comprehend. The Rocketbox has locks on both sides. One may open both or just one side at a time (which we found easier) to pivot 'open'.Was able to get the collapsed Burley D'Lite trailer, wheel extension (for bike) in + some additional storage for bottled water or whatever.Very happy with this.

Pros: The box fits my Prius well and adds to my cargo space.Cons: 1) One of the locks simply would not work. I could not unlock one side. I finally had to take the entire locking piece apart TWICE and cover the entire thing with WD40 to get it to work.2) Once installed, it does not feel stable and as other reviewers have mentioned, the front does NOT close securely. I will be buying 2 C clamps as suggested by one reviewer.3) the box is NOT waterproof, just water resistant.4) I bought the Same Key Locking system from Yamika assuming that I could use it on the Rocketbox. You cannot. When you unlock one side, you CANNOT remove the key. There is no way to remove the core without taking the whole thing apart. This should be clearly stated in the description of the box.

I bought this 12 cu ft box for camping and road trips in a Toyota Matrix. For camping, it fits 4 sleeping bags, 4 sleeping mats, tent, tarps, and toys with space to spare, leaving valuables inside the car. For road trips we plan on putting 3 carry-on suitcases but will probably accept 4.

Love this box
This arrived exactly as advertised and has been a great accessory for my car. Love having the extra storage space when traveling and it an easily hold a few suitcases and other items. The aerodynamics are also excellent and the box generates very little additional wind noise.
