180g, double LP sounds superb. Love the clear sounding of ginger drums

This review is for the Japanese SHM SACD Cream Wheels Of Fire. The sound is cleaner than the red line/standard CD. This release has the classic versions of White Room and Crossroads (live). I knew that going into the game. This release also provides you with a decent live recording of Sunshine of Your Love, and the single version of Anyone For Tennis which were not on the original release. You get a live send up of Ginger Baker’s drum solo tune “Toad” (which was on the the original release). So overall, this SACD provides the most”bang for your buck” by having a sampling of tunes from Cream’s first three albums. These are circa 1968 recordings-so expectation should be adjusted. It sounds fine, improved clarity in the SACD from standard cd. Things are sharper, more separated, less muddy. You can more clearly hear Felix Pappalardi’s viola on White Room and Deserted Cities OfThe Heart. Also for those new to this band you get - Born Under A Bad Sign overdriven guitarcover of Albert King Tune; Sitting On Top Of The World- Howlin Wolf Cover; and the Pete Brown poignant, timeless blues lyrics of Politician with several intertwining Clapton solos. Hearing this release caused me to dig in and listen to Pressed Ray and Wart Hog and As You Said. imhop the least accessible, least commercial, least covered tunes on the recording, (aside from the rehash Graham Bond eraTraintime- still hard for me to get excited about). This release is root stock in the evolution of classic rock . . .

Big Cream fan. I do have several of their albums on vinyl but wanted the convenience of a CD occasionally. This is a SACD and the sound is great. I play SACDs through my 5.1 surround sound system. While vinyl records are still my primary music source through my Marantz 2235 amp, I do enjoy the convenience of CDs. SACDs are more expensive and more difficult to find but they are a great source of music.

Such a great album. There will never be another band quite like Cream.

I liked the sound on this SACD and I liked the additional live at the fillmore material.

What can I say except Hey it's CREAM I bought this album back in 69 and can remember playing a lot of songs from it with the band I was in. It certainly bring's back good memories.

Un producto de buena calidad. Los cartones de la carpeta son buenos, gorditos y parecen resistentes. El acabado es bueno. Los discos están bien. Al menos los que me han llegado no tienen faltas, algo que siempre hay que comprobar con un vinilo. Sobre el álbum, es uno de los mejores de la historia del rock. Cualquier amante del género tiene que (al menos) haber escuchado Wheels Of Fire.

スタジオ製作盤２曲、ライヴ盤２曲、計４曲のボーナス・トラック目当てで購入。 しかし、SACD-SHM仕様、家にある総てのCDプレイヤーで再生不可。 購入時は、手持ち機器の取説を確認すべし。 塩ビ時代のポリドール日本から出たダブルLP（1968）を模した豪華箱入り版が、2013年にユニバーサルからリリース。 アメリカのオリジナル・マスターによるプラチナSHM、高価で取引されているので躊躇した挙句、血迷って買い直した次第。 オリジナルの帯付き金ピカ、銀ピカ二種の紙ジャケ仕様、これらをこんな立派な箱に入れる必要があったのかどうか疑問。 クリームは三人の自我が激しく鬩（せめ）ぎ合う、ライヴこそが真骨頂。 ジャズのマイルス・デイヴィスが、クリームやジミヘン、キンクリ等を聴き、エレクトリックへ踏み入ったことはつとに有名。 インプロヴィゼーションを重要視して来たジャズは、特にクリームのライヴに注目した。 長らくジャズのプレイヤーもファンも、ロックをジャズより劣る低級なジャンルだと見下し、洟も引っ掻けなかったのに。 この二枚組のディスク２、解散後に出た『ライヴ・クリーム』（1970）、『ライヴ・クリーム Vol.2』（1972）こそが、クリームの代表作とする向きは少なくない。 ディスク２のボーナス・トラックは、５「サンシャイン・ラヴ」と６「エヌ・エス・ユー」。 ５は1968年３月７日、フィルモア・ウエストの２ndショーで録音されたヴァージョン。 ６は同年３月９日、ウインターランドで収録、『ライヴ・クリーム』の同曲は翌10日の録音で別ヴァージョン。 あちらも10分15秒の大作だが、こちらも12分を超える力演で、壮絶なバトルを繰り拡げている。 ディスク１のボーナス・トラックは、10「エニイワン・フォー・テニス」、11「フォルスタッフ・ビール・コマーシャル」。 前者は1960年代後半、フェアポート・コンヴェンションやペンタングル、ロイ・ハーパー等、ブリティッシュ・トラッドの影響大。 ほのぼのとしていて長閑（のどか）なニュアンスであり、パワフルで血腥（なまぐさ）くもあるライヴとは別物。 後者は文字通り、ビールのコマソン（CMソング）、商品名連呼型で、知らない方は「こんなこともやっていたのか」と絶句するかも。 リアル・タイムではスタジオ録音の方はイマイチと思ったものの、金管木管や弦楽挿入等、実験的アプローチ満載。 ４「おまえの言うように」は半音上げ下げが頻出する不穏な旋律、不気味なアコギのストロークが印象的なナンバー。 この曲と続く５「ねずみといのしし」なんて、ライヴでは演奏しようも無いよな。 クリームは基本的にジャック・ブルースのバンドだったが、ドラムのジンジャー・ベイカー翁（当時まだ20代！）も積極的に曲創りをしていたことを再確認。 「練習し過ぎて、基本なんて忘れてしまったぜ」とは、ベイカーだから許される発言だ。 解散後、彼はローリング・ストーンズを脱退したブライアン・ジョーンズ同様、アフリカのポリリズム等、より複雑なリズムへとのめり込んで行く。

Poco da dire sulla parte artistica, si tratta del “dream team”, la crema appunto, di quegli anni favolosi che ci hanno regalato questa musica immortale. Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce hanno confezionato forse il miglior doppio della loro breve seppur brillante avventura musicale. La open track, White Room, varrebbe da sola il disco. Anche i live eccellenti, registrati bene considerando i mezzi a disposizione nell’epoca e la location. Qualità del vinile tutto sommato buona, Amazon come sempre eccellente nella logistica e nei prezzi. Da avere in ogni collezione.
