I tried this out at various heights, including not using the drop pipes at all and mounting it close to the ceiling. All options went together fairly easily, all are very sturdy, and why not use a BenQ mount for your BenQ projector, even though it is pretty much universal. I wouldn't hesitate to order this again in the future. The tilt options are really easy at your fingertips with a lever lock instead of having to hold the unit in place and tighten up screws hoping it doesn't move while you tighten. Really easy to get just the right angle for install. If you're looking at a slightly cheaper universal option, this will likely be easier to setup, and it is definitely sturdy.

This projector mount is awesome!!.Easy to install and you do not need to take hours to adjust the projector to your screen. I used it to mount my projector for my golf simulator and after purchasing a cheaper ceiling mount and struggling to get it to stay in one place I cut my losses and ordered this mound and it worked great. The single lever locking mechanism makes alignment a breeze and you do not need to be concerned they the projector weight will move the bracket around after setup.

I definitely recommend this if you’re hanging out projector from anything we hang out from a metal beam in our barn but totally suggested if you’re that teacher or Coach that needs it somewhere works great with the projectors that it is designed for an easy to assemble. I would recommend this product and you definitely definitely what you pay for.

This mount does NOT use 1.5" threaded column that is needed when mounting to something like a universal drop ceiling bracket. It wouldn't have been hard to make this work with universal adapters.

I use this in my home theater, it holds the Benq projector on the ceiling just fine. Cabling this thing was quite laborious, and after mounting it did not leave a lot of room to make any changes later... and mounting it with required cables run through it can be a little tricky depending on the height of your ceiling and ladder. However, setup was easy enough despite cabling challenges. Dialing in the projector angle is an experience... it has a nice swivel and pitch control, except for the locking mechanisms. These are sort of awkward because of how freely it moves with the projector mounted (weight). Angling your projector where it needs to go with the test screen up, and locking in place while keeping it still while reaching over top of the projector to lock it into place with these weird locks that require pressure be put on them from a certain direction can lead to some stress. It holds the configuration fairly solid, but you can force it to move while locked, which means over-time, the weight of the unit will eventually pull it out of alignment and will need to be adjusted. I've had to readjust mine about twice in the year or so that I've had it installed.

I used it to mount my BenQ HT4550i. All 4 mounting holes connected great with the included screws. I centered the mount over the projector's "center of gravity" mark to help with balance. It's fairly easy to assemble and mount. It feels very sturdy/rigid. I like the semi-quick release of the projector. I also like the pivot ball at the bottom - when unlocked, you can freely turn/tilt the unit, and then lock it in place.

Initially I bought a cheaper mount and then realized I needed to get my projector closer to the floor due to my 10' 5" ceiling. This one can be extended up to 23" from the ceiling. Putting it together was simple and the installation was a breeze. The locking mechanism that allows tilt and rotation is very solid and stayed in place. Being able to place the cables inside the tube is a nice touch as well.
