Camp Chef Reversible Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Griddle, Cooking Surface 14 in. x 16, Black

Griddle seems to be made really really well. Has a nice big surface which makes cooking multiple items very easy. It can also used for cooking on either side. One of the things that I had planned on doing, is the flat burgers so that way you don't have to worry about getting your kitchen nasty as I was going to put them straight on the grill. The weight of it is a little heavy but I would truly expect a cast iron product of this size to weigh a little bit if you use it like I'm going to use it outside. Then you won't have to worry about the grease as much and the heat distribution is usually good too

First off, I don't own a camp chef cooker. Yet I wanted to be able to have a good sized flat grill for making smash burgers on my 2 burner Charbroil gas grill. ( If your not familiar with smash burgers they require a HOT grill and one that stays hot!) Looking at the dimensions and ratings on this grill, I figured it would work. Glad I took the chance as it is very nicely made, fits well and works perfectly! I just set it on the gas grill, turn on the burners , drop the cover and come back in 10 min when the internal temp of the grill is around 300 deg f. This puts ALLOT of heat into this grill top that allows me to cook 4, 5" patties at once and still char the other side when I flip them. It also toasts buns to perfection when done. ( I was unable to keep a cast iron grill that hot on my kitchen stove top, BTW) I'm sure this grill top will get used for a bunch of things going forward but I'm in Smash burger heaven at the moment. Looking forward, it looks like this grill ( which has an actual cooking surface of 11.5x 15" BTW) fits nicely over 1/2 my kitchen range top (and covering 3 burners.) I think it's going to work ALLOT better than the narrow, center burner only griddle that came with the stove. I'm going to do bacon and eggs for the whole family soon!

I picked this one because it's a great fit on our grill, but I have also used it in the oven for frozen pizza. I preheated it. We liked the result. I don't think it would be appropriate on our glass cooktop, but it might be okay with gas. You'd probably find a shape more appropriate for that purpose since this is wider than the ones that are designed to go over burners. It's heavy and will be passed on to grandchildren eventually.

This thing is a “man cover” as its small dimensions do weigh just under 13 pounds. For us it serves two purposes: 1. it reverse sears our meats 2. It keeps the gas burner side of our grill free of drippings and grease. It does heat quickly and evenly, it will hold heat for a good while. Caveat: if you are not a neanderthal, perhaps have arthritic fingers (hands?) or maybe over 85? It’s a bit of a chore to maneuver and slide out for cleaning. It is paramount that all its surfaces are seasoned with oil … it will rust quickly.

Great addition to the camp chef stove. Not too heavy just get the appropriate bag to carry it around.

Wife and I were planning to buy a new outdoor flat iron griddle unit and thought we already have the smoker and grill taking up patio space.... what to do..... Just grabbed the tape measure and found this Camp Chef Pre-Conditioned Griddle to fit in our grill, so no need for another expensive item we may seldom use. Perfect item to grill veggies ....yum, they won't fall now, bacon and eggs (scrambled), there's enough room on this 14x17 griddle to cook multiple items. Cast iron just cooks things better with the constant consistent temps across the whole griddle.... Easy to clean, burgers on the flat, flip over for veggies or hot dogs, get a good cast iron cooking book.....

Why did you pick this product vs others?: LOVE THESE grill toppers. I have two. My family has 4. They have been great, and easily portable to other locations that have a grill to fit.

Très lourd, l'apparence de la surface est égale sur la mienne contrairement a ce que certain commentaire indique. La qualité me semble vraiment au rendez-vous! La conception me semble bien avec un emplacement qui ramasse le gras sur le côté plat. J'ai hâte de l'essayer!

The griddle works well for cooking steaks. Fits perfectly on my small 16"x16" bbq.

Very good griddle works very well. Just have to make sure you season it well. Then its perfect for camp cooking.
