Great replacement and value to an And4 phone! Unfortunately, camera problems lead me to move on
I used this phone as my "primary driver"... calls, txt, email, internet browsing, GPS, maps, camera, looking at videos + photos, documents, and games.----- LAYOUTLG doesn't have physical buttons on the side spines of the phone. Only on the rear, where it's fairly intuitive to use your index finger to access. Easy to take screenshots with just one finger! Just be careful not to smudge the rear camera lens which is right above those buttons.LG phones and tablets have a feature where you can double tap the screen to wake it up, which I found to be most convenient. However, sometimes this doesn't work (despite "triple tapping" to compensate)."Top and Bottom row" bezels does reduce the screen real estate, but does provide areas you can grab on to (if that's your thing. Although I like low to bezel-less phones now, I still appreciated having these). The OS let you hide or always reveal the Home Touch Buttons. By hiding that row, you can get that much more screen viewing area, but always swipe from below to temporary reveal it, having "the best of both worlds"----- CAMERANot too shabby, when it worked. Took pictures and videos decently (not spectacularly like a $800 to $1100 flagship phone), and had decent options for exposures, and such. Unfortunately the rear camera ended up becoming blurry after about 8 months. Trying out other camera apps helped narrow down that it was the hardware or lens itself, as opposed to some glitch in the default camera software. In fact, I purchased a replacement LG G4 due to the camera conking out, but alas, the new one also succumbed to the same fate. The default camera app to view pictures was a bit scary where you're not asked a confirmation when you delete a photo or video. There's an undo button that you can press to go back, but you gotta be quick about it, as it disappears after around 2 seconds----- PERFORMANCEFor a 5-year old phone, it wasn't too shabby. I'd need to restart it few months.----- OTHER NICE FEATURES-Built in clock app lets you set custom volume and ringtone for each alarm-Built in pedometer-micro-SD card slot32 GB of internal storage would be plenty for the usual stuff, but with taking a lot of photos and videos, and storing them, not so much. Adding a 64 GB micro-SD easily alleviates that concern-User replaceable batteryNice to have when buying a used unit. You can just swap in a new battery easily on your own. In cases where you need power fast, swapping in a fresh battery is a nice alternative to having a power back slowly charge it back up to full.-organize the home screen and app drawerI've learned that you can't create folders in the app drawer for the Pixel 4A!-I never experienced the dreaded boot looping issue!Since I got it used, I'd reckon that any of those would be out of circulation by now.

Nice camera - Bad battery life - Until you get the boot loop!
For me, it took one year plus 3 days to get the boot loop problem. Freezing the phone in my kitchen freezer enabled me to boot the G4 a few last times to rescue my photos and to back up my text messages. It is still to be seen what LG will do in my case. They have thus far provided a prepaid trip for the phone to their Texas service center. I don't know when I will get my phone back and they made no promise to actually fix it. I have read a few horror stories about the "factory repair." Users have gotten their phones back weeks later with cracked screens, bent battery pins, or unexpected bills. Many users have reported getting only a few more months of use from their "repaired" phones before the boot loop issue returned. In the year of time my phone worked, I rarely got more than 3 hours of screen on time from a full charge. My phone always ran warm even without stressing it with GPS or games. Running more efficient custom kernels and limiting the CPU speed helped only a little. On the plus side, the camera was my favorite feature (but only if you stick to a stock or stock-based ROM). The screen's brightness was more than adequate under most circumstances and the clarity of the display was great. Also, the small single rear-facing speaker was surprisingly strong and clear. Although I am not a gamer, the Snapdragon 808 never disappointed even when running two apps simultaneously in dual window mode. I think I could have been okay with permanently disabling the 2 big cores in order to bypass the boot loop problem . For other global variants of the G4, this is an option as there are custom .tot files available that enable users to bypass the problematic big cores. Living with a slower phone would have been much better for me than sending it away. This was not what I expected for $350. Next time, I'd rather pay $900 for a phone that lasts 3 trouble-free years before any catastrophic hardware problems. I'd gladly trade specs and features for a more expensive phone that continues to work.

This phone is GREAT. It's not perfect
This phone is GREAT. It's not perfect, but since I can't give it 4 1/2 stars, it gets 5. Because that's how good it is.The good:-Beautiful screen. Very responsive touch.-Fast processor. I feel like the phone moves at the speed of me.-Amazing sound. This this little speaker is ridiculous! It puts out a ton of sound both from music and from phone calls, which not all phones do.-Great reception. There is a dead zone at work in one of the restrooms that I now get reception in! Pretty cool.-IR Blaster. You may not think you'd use this, but I have a 1 1/2 year old son who likes to mess with the remotes. Now I can control the sound system and my TV with my phone when he's around and I don't feel like having two remotes and my phone around.-External storage. I currently have a 128 GB storage card in it and with support up to 200GB, I'll be set for awhile.-The little things: the dual window feature is pretty cool, and LTE is FAST.The bad:-The size: I came from a Xperia Z3 Compact, and while I wasn't sure about getting a phone this big, I'm glad I did! I'm putting this in "the bad" section, but I am starting to really like the big screen!-The vibration. The vibration feature can be hard to feel in your pocket or when you have a case around it, and it could be stronger.-The power/volume buttons. Located on the back, it can be a little inconvenient to access these. But I'm getting used to it, and can see how this would prevent "butt" calls in the future.Over all, I really like this phone. The only thing I would've liked better if it could be a little bit smaller. And possibly waterproof! However, for the price and everything it comes with, I am quite satisfied.
