Bad reviews on this are basically a misunderstanding
The problem with the reviews that i see is people dont understand how Fipronil works. As a retired 25+yr vet tech who was part of the control group when they invented these products i can say there seems to be a HUGE misunderstanding on how this product works. This product will not give you the quick kill like Advantage does when a flea comes in contact with it. If your pet has horrible flea allergies (like some of the photos ive seen people post here) or is infested then use Advantage (or the generic for it). NOTE: Fipronil will cause an INCREASE in flea activity until they run out of energy and die. It can cause fleas to bite during this excitement period. This does not mean there are more fleas or the product isnt working, its quite the opposite. Why do i use this instead of Advantage ? Several reasons: 1) It is held in the sebaceous glands and re-applies itself after a bath, swimming or rain. 2) it lasts up to 3 months, a little less if you bathe the pet. 3) the s-methaprene an environmental egg desiccating product and translocates to all corners of the room after a few hours, turning your pet into a walking flea egg/larva killer. Tips: Bathe your pet first and let them thoroughly dry prior to application. Wash all bedding in hot soapy water. If it seems like youre seeing more fleas then the product is working. IF you want a fast kill, use advantage or the generic form. If you want a longer term solution that cuts out 3 of the 4 stages of a fleas life cycle, use Fipronil.

Effective at a fraction of the cost!
I live in WA state and we only really have to deal with fleas and ticks in the summer time. I am usually spending $100's of dollars every year on expensive flea treatments for our dogs. I found this on sale and after reading the reviews, thought I would give it a try. I have 2 large Cane Corso's and 2 small PomChi's. One of my small dogs has really bag skin allergies and is allergic to harsh chemicals, causing him to have hair loss, hotspots and red/irritated skin. He also has Intestinal Bowel Disease and is allergic to almost everything! I was SUPER hesitant to use this product on him. I started this treatment on all 4 of my dogs roughly 3 months ago. Upon opening the product, I noticed right away there was no harsh chemical smell like I have gotten from other products in the past. Applying it to my dogs was super simple as you just use the dropper to place the product at the base of the neck, right between the shoulder blades. It dried within a hour and my dogs didn't notice a thing. It had ZERO negative effects on my special needs dog, causing no skin reactions what-so-ever! He's bathed in a medicated shampoo weekly and so far, the flea treatment still seems to be working. Not even a fly will land on my dogs. They are now due for a second treatment and I am beyond pleased with the longevity and effectiveness of this product. I will keep this on my subscribe and save. Glad I tried it out!

I normally don’t buy un-named flea meds…
So typically, I would spend an arm and a leg buying either Frontline or AndvanTix (Advantage kills the fleas and eggs/larvae plus it also fights off ticks) and I have never diverged from this rule. (You get what you pay for. ) Money was tight that month so I decided to give the Amazon brand a try. Especially because I somehow got stuck with a second large dog-the bigger the breed, the prices the monthly treatments are! What was once a three month supply, became less than two. I noticed no icky smell, like with the other two. They tend to have a chemically smell to them and it lingers on the fur. It keeps their back greasy, for at least a day and it can get on the furniture or the carpet or even the worse, the dog can get curious and begin licking it off if it is on there too long. This brand had none of these inconvenient side effects. It wasn’t greasy, didn’t linger and was easy to use. The quicker you can put it on, the less the dog fights with you; making its functionality nearly perfect. I also noticed there have been no ticks on either pet. So for the price I paid, and even though it’s only been a month-so far, so good. I will update in three months if anything bad comes to pass… but so far, I’m extremely happy with this product. Never thought I’d stray from the name brand. But you get tired of paying $70-100 for less than two months. And so for me, this was a no brainer. I recommend anyone wanting to save a few bucks, without losing out on quality and especially if you hate that smell that comes with the other stuff, to try this out for your pet.

If you want flea friends this is what you need.
I have no clue how this has the reviews it does. I have owned dogs for years and years and tried so many different treatments and this is the worst yet. It smells absolutely disgusting but I could deal with that if it killed anything other than my hopes and dreams. It does not work. It doesn’t work instantly. It doesn’t work after several days (like some reviews claimed). It doesn’t work. Super frustrating to find out after buying two boxes to treat the different size dogs I have. Don’t buy in hopes it will save you some money. It’s now going to cost me more than if I had just gone with the stuff I know works.

Mixed Results, But Budget-Friendly
I tried the Amazon Basics Flea and Tick Topical Treatment for my large dogs, and my experience has been a bit of a mixed bag. The application process was straightforward—just part the fur between the shoulder blades and apply the solution. It didn’t cause any irritation, and the product was easy to use. However, the effectiveness was inconsistent. While some users reported success, I noticed that the fleas persisted even after application. Another reviewer noted, “Works great - is kinda stinky for a few minutes but works. We live in the woods and ticks are a thing of the past.” On the positive side, the product is a cost-effective alternative to more expensive brands, and some users found it effective for their pets. If you're looking for an affordable option, this might be worth trying. However, if your pets are dealing with a significant flea or tick problem, you might want to consider other treatments.
